Good move. Don't forget people were upset when warriors fired Marc. The cavs had no business beating the bulls. Thibs team was lost in that series.

Chicago Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said, “The Chicago Bulls have a history of achieving great success on and off the court. These accomplishments have been possible because of an organizational culture where input from all parts of the organization has been welcomed and valued, there has been a willingness to participate in a free flow of information, and there have been clear and consistent goals. While the head of each department of the organization must be free to make final decisions regarding his department, there must be free and open interdepartmental discussion and consideration of everyone's ideas and opinions. These internal discussions must not be considered an invasion of turf, and must remain private. Teams that consistently perform at the highest levels are able to come together and be unified across the organization-staff, players, coaches, management and ownership. When everyone is on the same page, trust develops and teams can grow and succeed together. Unfortunately, there has been a departure from this culture. To ensure that the Chicago Bulls can continue to grow and succeed, we have decided that a change in the head coaching position is required. Days like today are difficult, but necessary for us to achieve our goals and fulfill our commitments to our fans. I appreciate the contributions that Tom Thibodeau made to the Bulls organization. I have always respected his love of the game and wish him well in the future.”

    New Orleans ?

seems like Tibbs and the Head Office disagreed on roster.
Bulls management to blame, not Tibbs.

I don't think Tibbs ever wanted to play rose as he knew he cannot shoot and he's a liability on defense

Tibbs and front office disagreed on a lot, including the front office telling him to get an offensive assistant coach on the sidelines. Some of the worst run offense in the league.

Rose is under contract 2 yrs. How exactly would you propose to trade him? Might not be possible. There's just not much tinkering the Bulls can do. Presumably Dunleavy will be allowed to walk and McDermott will play a bigger role.

Hoiberg has been the name for a very long time, but there was a recent report he might be reconsidering due to his second heart surgery. Mentioned he might want more time to track his health at a lower key job, but the NBA is still his overall goal. It's his if he wants it though, but we'll see. Adrian Griffin getting some mentions as well, along with Gentry. Reinsdorf generally likes smaller names and doesn't like paying big.

how was it coaching ? Rose had issues, as usual, Gasol is almost done, and Noah is waning.
Poor execution is not on the coach. There isn't a coach alive who could have made that
    Bull team beat the Cavs.

Thibs ran players into the ground every year, his silly style is not meant for the NBA, should be an assisstant coach again till he figures out its a marathon not a sprint.

I'd like to see him team up with Doc Rivers and try to help him win a championship again.

I'm about convinced Doc is clueless.

Might not be possible? He's due $42M over the next 2 years. Not a single team would consider taking him unless the Bulls ate at least half of that money. Rose is pure financial and organizational poison. The only way the Bulls could ever trade him cleanly is if they take back an equally horrific contract.

I've always thought of Thibbs as a good coach, but it sounds like things with sour between him, the team and the fans. I guess a lot of the offensive woes fall on his shoulders. This time no real excuse with all the scorers they added this season.

Good luck with Hoiberg if they go that route. He built a great program at Iowa St, but the guy literally can't coach a lick of defense. He couldn't even get his college team to play defense, and they actually play defense at that level. Hoiberg is basically Mike D'Antoni 2.0 without any nba coaching experience.

dude nobody expected them to beat the great Lebron James.

See the problem in the NBA is there are only 2-3 elite super stars and if your team doesnt have one (Atlanta)
it means you aint going to win a championship.

Bulls just need to be realistic with expectations.

Come on, Arch. This is all about schizo Paxson and nothing else. Guy is a manic egomaniac.

Read today that the relationship became contentious when Thibs wanted to draft Draymond Green but upper management (i.e., Paxson) wanted Marquis Teague. So yeah, get rid of the coach who has a Top-10 win % in NBA history, with 40 plus % of those wins coming without your star. Makes sense.

How many coaches has this lunatic burned through now?

In this day and age, a coach like that wears out his welcome after a while. Sad, but it is what it is. Players are pussies now. Have to "protect your investment."

Same with Skiles. Great coaches, but too old school to spend too long at one stop in today's NBA.
