Memphis GS should be interesting...two contrasting styles. Memphis has a veteran head on their shoulders and should be able to cope with adversity unlike these Pelicans who are in over their heads.
the biggest key to an upset is the dog being able to hold its own homecourt, so i like to start there.
Memphis has a stronger homecourt than Washington, but the Warriors are stronger than Atlanta. so the 'dog on homecourt vs. opponent' angle there is pretty even and both should fare well at home.
if Washington can finish the sweep and the Nets can win game 4 to force that series to 6 games minimum, Washington will have a very good shot. Washington's weakness is their bench, but they're a lot more physical and have the better starting 5. Atlanta's homecourt isn't too intimidating either.
concerns about Memphis.. Conley's and Allen's health, and Z-Bo's general lack of production against the Warriors. if he's cold and not getting calls on post-ups, he has the tendency to lose discipline on both ends and it really hurts the rest of the team.
however, if Memphis can win just 1 road game in Oakland, that series will be up for grabs. and even if they don't, it still might go 7 games.
was loving my Wiz +1400 to win the East before Beal's injury, but now concerned. nice to grab game 1 regardless, today's line was an absolute gift.
obviously no play on Grizz series before Game 1 now that Conley has a broken face. he may play at some point, but that face mask is a distraction and the injury would cause him major hesitation going to the hole. it's really too bad, this could've been a great series with him.
