Inclined to take the generous points. However, a bit concerned that Army will not have played a game for over 3 weeks and will come out sluggish in the first half. Practice time cannot emulate real game speed and emotion.

On the positive side of the long layoff, Army likely has added many new plays and wrinkles to their playbook.

Tempted to take Navy 1st half and Army for the game but not crazy about that approach because you risk losing twice. Will likely just take Army and the points.

Always a fun game to watch. Refreshing sportsmanship with true student athletes competing instead of the arrogant trash talking illiterate morons that comprise most teams nowadays.

NAVY is 15-7 against the spread versus ARMY since 1992
NAVY is 15-7 straight up against ARMY since 1992
14 of 22 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL since 1992

Also noteworthy is that with a victory Navy coach Niumatalolo will become Navy's winningest coach in history. Plus he is 7-0 versus Army.

Hmm...on second thought maybe we should pass and just enjoy the game.

Only way Army can hang is with trick plays...Navy will pass some and loosen up the defense for their run game...

Army doesn't have a chance & taking Navy -15 is almost a lock however. The tables were turned long ago in 1948 when Army was 8-0 led by Heisman contender & All-American QB Arnold Galiffa. Navy was 0-8 & Army was a 20 pt. favorite.
It was probably the upset of the century as the final score was Navy 21 & Army 21.

The entire Army team was hindered by a food poisoning epidemic shortly before the game & many of the starters weren't able to play. If something like that happens again only then could Army have a chance to cover.

Because of the Viet Nam War and the huge emergence of PRO-FOOTBALL Army football began delclining around 1965,
when they tied in 1948 Army ended up ranked 6th in the nation. Nowadays they probably aren't the 6th best team in NY state.

Poster Navyblue never chimes in on Navy threads he is obsessed with Notre Dame. Think the kid enlisted in the Navy unwillingly when he always wanted to go to Notre Dame.

Too many posters singing NAVY. Bad sign. Think I will buy Army up to 17 for entertainment purposes. Good luck to all.

Evidently that is what everyone is thinking. Total opened at 60 1/2 and is down to 56 1/2.

Also 14 of 22 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL since 1992.

I'm not playing the total but if I were I'd be inclined toward the OVER. Both defenses are poor. I suspect Army is going to be passing the ball more than usual since they have had 3 weeks to prepare for this game. If they do, that will lengthen the game. Lots of variables come into play when the ball is in the air. Pick sixes? Interceptions resulting in short field for Navy? Quick score on lucky bomb for Army? Incompletions stopping the clock.

Woody Hayes said only 3 things happen when you pass the ball and 2 of them are bad. Actually you could add a fourth and that is bad also - QB sacked.

Army's new coach with lots of time on his hands to prepare for the one game he needs to win could come out with some odd ball stuff . And why not? The same old same old hasn't worked against Navy for the past 12 years.

Should be a fun game to watch.

Really no chance to cover I'd say no chance to win but 15 points is a lot especially on a navy team that has underachieved this year that being said they probably will cover but 15 points is hardly a lock on a rivalry game
