true but i just like games featuring elite pitchers. They are much more predictable.

Tough to bet the first few weeks as bullpens are the most volatile aspect of a MLB roster year to year.... And bullpens are relied upon the most in the first few weeks as starters aren't fully stretched out yet. Weather is also an issue, many players struggle in colder weather but we don't always know which young players that might be.

wrong approach bear. starters need 3 starts to accurately gauge "this year's form". last year or previous years of pitching form do not matter. cold weather a factor in limiting pitch count first 2 weeks or so. warning: do not bet your normal unit size until game 16 ( 2 weeks worth of wait) if you must bet keep the unit size at rock bottom minimum or only play underdogs. overpriced chalks historically fail early in the season.

thinking of fading lester on the 5th, i'll see how he looks his next few starts

Maddon indicated that Lester has already reached about 70 pitches in a start this spring but would be limited to 60 in his next appearance on Thursday. His final tuneup next week won't go for more than about 80, which means don't expect him to reach 100 on Opening Day. The Cubs are planning on pitching him in minor league games this week and next to control the environment.

i only listed the matchups that have been released as far as both starting pitchers.

Kershaw has been named the starter but the Padres have yet to declare an opening day starter

Kershaw has given up one earned run in 25 2/3 innings on opening day the last four years; he's the one you want to bet.

I would keep an eye on the weather. If it's under 55 degrees and the total is set at 7.5 or 8 then I would take the under.

I think both teams could have trouble scoring runs in this one. Shark vs Ace Ventura that is a pretty good pitching matchup.

I would either go Royals at + money or take the under

I just don't feel very confident that the Royals will score runs on Shark. But the atmosphere should be pretty good on Opening Day in Kansas City and the Royals have looked pretty hungry so far in spring training.

Gotta the give Royals edge with their bullpen. Ventura may only go 6 but that shouldn't be a problem.

Royals get Hocheaver back in the pen this season.

    maybe 7 innings tops.

I think I recall Kershaw throwing a complete game shutout on opening day against the Giants a few years ago.

but most of time the game will already pretty much be decided by the time the starters come out

Clay Buchholz has 18 K's and only 3 walks in spring training. Maybe he's got his old stuff back.

    After doing some research....

    i like

    Marlins (Alvarez) over Braves (Teheran)

Pirates ( Liriano) over Reds ( Cueto)

Dodgers (Kershaw) -1 over Padres ( Shields)

Nationals (Scherezer ) -1 over Mets ( Colon)

    slight leans to

Royals- Ventura over White Sox - Smardijizija

Mariners -King Felix over Angels -TBA

Rays - Archer over Orioles -Tillman

Because the Mets want a 40,000 draw with Harvey on the mound in the second home game.
Follow the money, it's all about the money.
Mets are guaranteed a full house regardless who pitches the home opener. the only way the Mets get a sell out in the second game is if Harvey pitches.
That's why it's Colon, Degrom, and then Harvey.

Stop placing such a premium on spring training.

Wong was hitting out of shoes in spring training last year, but when the bell rung, he shit the bed so bad they sent him down to the minors.

Even though Ventura throws 98 but has pretty much no movement, and the White Sox are a dead red hitting lineup. you still feel confident about the under?

And another thing, not one opening day line is posted, but you are making -1 run line bets without knowing what the line is.

    What is your problem man?

when you have been gambling as long as i have you dont need to wait until the books release to have a good idea of what the line will be.

Max Scherezer will be about -180 on opening day so playing the -1 should get me about -140.

As far as Ace Ventura he has a has pretty sick curve ball and change-up. He is not a 1 trick pony and i project him going 6 innings and i trust the Royals bullpen to do a good job.
