You cannot be big game, if you can't last more than three innings in game one of the world series.Plus, he has not pitched more than six innings the entire postseason. Five earned runs tonight at a minimum. Shields is far from being a big game pitcher.

Isn't Shields a free agent after the series? Any team that unloads a 5-7 year deal on him is nuts! Shields has 19 innings pitched in the postseason and has allowed 15 earned runs.

Asked same ? couple weeks ago. Steve Nash said he got it in h.s. He's an L.A. native so its origin comes from Worthy obviously. He's never earned it in mlb! And yes he's a free agent going into this off season I'm 90% sure.

Maybe the Yankees will give him the 7 year 140 million? Whichever team does, is a sucker. But you are right, fade the gas can all the way to the bank!

It was never his anyway. The original and only "Big Game James" played in LA in the 80's. James Shield's nickname should have been "Identity Theft".

Seriously...I get sick of hearing him called that. He is over-rated as an "ace" pitcher! no question
