Well Hewitt/Molik took the first set but this is another good kick in the ass to me of why I rarely bet doubles. I bet these two the other day and although they won, it was ugly. Now Hewitt DFs while serving for the set and they have to rely on Messy Molik to close out the first.

Even better, as I was typing this they get broken on the first game of the 2nd.

At least Ivanovic still doesn't know where to stand though so I still have hope!

Zvonareva (+1600) and Sharapova (+1300) stick out to me... obviously I'd love to have money invested into Wozniacki (+800 three months ago) but at the current +450 I just can't get myself to bet her ... a sure sign she'll take it all the way.

Hey Julio! Hopman Cup is played in Perth, Australia. January begins the Southern Hemisphere swing which is great for me but not so hot for those of you up north. Best of luck!

Groth is peaking now. Be very wary going against her because she's on a mission and after a career best finish last season, I think she's just going to keep posting great results barring any injuries.

None yet. Last season I think I did ok, but no record. I'll be posting a record as of my first plays during the Aussie Open. Until then I'm just kind of making a few plays for action and may not get the chance to post them in time. BOL

No futures for me. I'm not that great with them and even when I manage to fluke one out, the amount of time I spend trying to figure out if/when to hedge just doesn't seem worth the rate of return I end up seeing. Sharapova would probably be a decent bet as you could always jump off if she makes it deeper into the tourney. Woz at +450 still seems ok but the chances of you being able to hedge are slim to none so you'd have to be willing to sit on your money until the end. BOL Mirar!

No Isner for me but yes, Hopman Cup is kind of easy money it seems so far. I've won my only two bets I've placed and those were with very little thought compared to what I normally put in. BOL Biggle.

I've made a small play on a fun parlay: Zahlavova Strycova/Wickmayer/Roddick +126

Because I'm fading an Aussie in Australia I've kept my stakes low and I never advocate going big on parlays anyway. I'll also be posting other plays during the day but again, these are just fun ones for me as tennis is on here all day and all night. If you're going to look at my plays and possibly tail them, just go small. This first week is a crazy one. BOL everyone!

I've been looking at that. I really like Becker today too and will probably make a play on him with the handicap.

that's exactly what I intend to do - sit on the money... if you just find a decent enough bet, you could do the same... give a whole lot of unforgettable viewing experience (yelling outloud, throwing unanimated objects, praying, swearing etc.) for a small amount of money

Thanks labrador! If I play this one, I'll be parlaying Anderson with someone most likely. I don't think Lopez will have it in him to take this one against Anderson but obviously I've been wrong before. Best of luck to you too!!

I'm tempted to take Mahut at +5.5 against Murray tonight. I live here in Perth and it's extremely hot, raining and overcast...horrible humid conditions to play tennis in the dome (and spectate). Murray was experiencing some breathing difficulties the other night and said after the match that he wasn't feeling very fit and climatised to these conditions. My theory is if Isner beats Starace by 5 games or more then it's clear Starace just isn't playing very good tennis and The 7-5 6-1 win by Murray isn't as impressive as it appears. Hence the play on Mahut +5.5.

Also if Mattek-Sands takes out or comes close to beating Schiavone then the late play will have to be Mladenovic +3 as I was very impressed by her first set vs Mattek-Sands. If Schiavone comes out strong then the late play will be Robson -3. Cheers.

Yeah, Schiavone stuffed up that parlay. Wicky won the first set, on serve in the 2nd so she's looking ok so far. Just need Roddick to take control of this match and get rid of Dolgo. At least he broke back. Becker's lost the first set and they're on serve in the 2nd as well.

I have to look at this little Bubka dude a bit more but it's very hard for me to go against Ukrainians as it is and the way he played against DGT frightens me a bit with the handicap since Tsonga's mind can drift off to lala land from time to time. You're probably right though.

Waiting on Anderson now. Hopefully he can pull this one off and leave me with a little profit for the day so far, no thanks to Schiavone and Becker.

Yeah Julio. When you're gearing up for night matches on Wednesday night, I'll have hopefully slept an hour or two and will just have finished our little morning routine here.

But because the Hopman Cup is in Perth, and they're 3hrs behind Melbourne, it's 1:30am here on Thursday morning for me and they're just getting ready to play the doubles between Murray/Robson and Mahooooo/Mladetc...
