Yeah the day bit was definitely nice haha! Night, not so much. Tbh, I don't mind Bemelmans losing - he put up a fight and it could've gone either way with the amount of chances, justified picking the outsider.
Not even sure with Brown. Want to try and find highlights somewhere to see exactly what it was

Awkward day... took a few shots at some value but they didn't pay off today. Slightly disappointed in Ramos and Cervantes - both guys were in extremely winnable positions but screwed up late and couldn't hold on. Still, I'm pretty happy with my thought process lately, so here goes.

I lost my shit today, took Paire's handicap but it didn't come in because he got smashed in the first 6-0. Overs comes in, +1.5 sets comes in, but not the handicap. Siegemund up 5-3 and loses the next four games. Pisses me off so much. Lost -0.85 units but again could have been a lot better.
ATP BEIJING
- Kuznetsov -3.5 games - $1.8 - ONE STAKE
Pretty simple play this. Despite Kravchuk already playing two games in these conditions, Kuznetsov is pretty much a class above. Because of the adjustment period, however, I've opted for the line rather than the 2-0 set play. Kuznetsov has the better serve and a fantastic backhand that complements a pretty aggressive game (when he wants to turn it on). He's far more consistent that Kravchuk.
- Z. Zhang to WIN A SET - $2.7 - ONE STAKE
Bit of a cheeky play. Sock is not known for his fitness and ability to play in heat, so when you stick him in a hot, humid and muggy climate and get him to play his first match since the US open (nearly a month ago) against a guy used to such conditions, there is the potential for a minor upset. I'm not going to take Zhang to win because the set odds are that ideal balance between risk and reward.
- Thiem to WIN - $2 - TWO STAKES
Value city. Much like Pouille today, Thiem is overpriced. He should be around the $1.5-$1.7 mark imo. Despite Zverev's good recent run, he hasn't looked infallible. Wawrinka played about 50% of his normal level. He was down breaks in both sets against Medvedev, and just didn't look amazing throughout St. Petersburg. He pulled out his best tennis when he had to, so good on him, but I'm not fully convinced.
Thiem has played two matches in China; Zverev none. This works in Thiem's favour for two reasons: numero un, he's played in conditions and is used to them (Zverev hasn't) and numero deux, he's still had that rest period of about a week because he exited reasonably early. Some of you will probably say 'well Zverev's been in China for the same length of time, but just hasn't played a match. Same thing, isn't it?' NO. No matter how hard you try, you cannot simulate real life match play, especially against an opponent as good as Thiem.
- Gasquet to WIN 2-0 - $2 - ONE STAKE
Querrey hasn't played a match since the US, while Gasquet's nearly won a tournament in sticky conditions. I'm on board.
ATP TOKYO
- Vesely/Anderson OVER 23.5 - $1.9 (Sportsbet) - ONE STAKE
It's gone over the posted total in 4 of their last 5 h2hs. They're both great serves, and this should be a two tiebreak (or at the very least, one tiebreak and a 7-5) affair.
- Monaco to WIN - $2 - ONE STAKE
Again, not really sure he'll win, but he definitely shouldn't be an outsider. Fritz doesn't have the experience that Monaco has, and he hasn't acclimatised.
- Tipsarevic to WIN - $1.7 - ONE STAKE
Don't really need to explain this. Tipsarevic is striking them so well - he should be about $1.4 imo.

Adding a few challenger for tonight
CHALLENGER MOROCCO
- Martin x Dzumhur - $1.8 - ONE STAKE
Considered hitting this with two stakes but will contain myself. Dzumhur should have no problems beating Ymer with his consistency and court speed, while Martin is just a step above Roca and has had a great year on clay.
CHALLENGER MONS
- Struff/Herbert OVER 22.5 games - $1.8 - ONE STAKE
- Herbert to WIN - $1.7 - ONE STAKE
Both guys have great serves, so on a fast indoor court, I'll take the overs on 22.5 any day. I think Herbert has the better form at the moment though, and the game style to take advantage of the surface the most though. He'll also have the huge support of the crowd.
- Melzer to WIN - $2.2 - ONE STAKE
Another one I've had to restrain myself from putting two stakes on. Melzer is better on clay for sure, but even at his age he still has far more class and ability than De Schepper.
- Berankis to WIN - $2.2
Berankis is a really, really solid player, on hard especially. He doesn't have a lot of huge weapons, but he has consistency that is far beyond any challenger player. Janowicz is still semi-returning from time away from the game, and I'm just not sure about his level. I think the odds should be reversed.

ATP BEIJING
- Pouille/Dimitrov OVER 22.5 games - $1.9 - ONE STAKE
At first look, it's hard not to roll with the momentum here. But there is a reason I won't. Lucas Pouille is playing the best tennis of his life at the moment. Everything is going right for him. But, he's still priced at evens. Dimitrov is not - far from it. But he's also priced at evens. At the present moment, I don't think Lucas can play a lot better, which means his maximum ability is still rated around equal with Dimitrov in average form. For me, the value is therefore on Dimitrov. If he started playing better, he would be the favourite according to the odds. All he has to do is raise his level slightly above average, while Lucas cannot drop.
I think Lucas probably wins this, but my analysis points towards a reasonably close game.
- Nadal -5.5 games - $2.1 - TWO STAKES
Huge value here. Like I've said so often, Nadal actually tries to win every point, which is fantastic when covering handicaps. Mannarino is not tall, so he'll have trouble dealing with the topspin coming at him from the other end. The Italian doesn't have a great serve either, so Nadal will have an advantage in almost every single rally.
ATP JAPAN
- Monfils -3.5 games - $1.8 - TWO STAKES
Perfect example of how often past h2h matches indicate nothing. Simon has blanked Monfils in completed matches, but Monfils is shredding it lately. Expect him to get the win and cover the line here.
- Kyrgios/Stepanek 1st Set 3-Way Game Handicap: Handicap Draw (-2.0) - $3.7 (SPORTSBET) - ONE STAKE
This might seem really confusing, but it's not. I'll break it down: In the Kyrgios/Stepanek game, the first set has to be won by Kyrgios 6-4 or 7-5. This is a market with three options. One is -2.0 (Kyrgios has to win the first set by three or more games). The second is Stepanek +2.0 (Stepanek has to either take the first set to a tiebreak or win the set himself by any score. The last is the -2.0 handicap draw.
I've taken this because I've noticed that Kyrgios rarely breaks more than once a set. Because of this, this puts the 6-3, 6-4 and 7-5 right in the ball park, and I'll back Stepanek in to get to 4 at least. We might need a bit of luck with who serves first, but this market is WAY overs, and it's a more than decent shot at $3.7 odds.

+2.7 yesterday.
ATP BEIJING
- Ferrer/Zverev OVER 22.5 - $1.8 - ONE STAKE
I was going to go with Ferrer's moneyline price of $2.2 (still a good bet though), but decided on the overs instead because I think the game will be close. I've watched both of Ferrer's matches so far, and he's played really, really well. He's definitely above the level that he's been at for most of the year. Zverev has obviously been good, and is serving well. Ferrer will challenge him on his return game though, and is far more secure on his backhand than both Sock and Thiem. I think this will go to three, but the beauty with overs is that it can be polished off in two tight sets.
ATP JAPAN
- Monaco +4.5 games - $2 - ONE STAKE
- Monaco to WIN - $4.5 - HALF STAKE
I've said it a couple of times - Cilic has looked really ordinary this week. Twice he's been in sticky situations, and twice he's managed to dig himself out of it. Monaco has showed quite a bit of fight to break back in the first set against Duckworth and showed his experience to put him away in the second. Don't be fooled by Monaco's ranking - four and a half games is a MASSIVE line in this spot, and I'm happy to take it.
- Kyrgios to WIN 2-0 - $2.4 (Unibet) - ONE STAKE
I must admit - the value is probably on Muller in this clash, but I'm going to something I don't do often and ignore that. The general trend with Kyrgios is that when he's in a corner, he bounces back in a spectacular fashion. It's happened multiple times in his career. People questioned his commitment around Wimbledon and he came back and took out the Atlanta Open. He got eliminated early in the US Open, failed against Anderson and the whispers are back. He has experience in playing a big server in Isner very recently. I backed him to win the tournament, but I think he comes out determined here and takes the match. It might not be pretty, but I'm backing him in to get it done in probably at least one tiebreak.
- Karlovic +2.5 games - $1.9 - ONE STAKE
Nice bit of value here. I expected +1.5 so I'll take the extra game. 'What use is an extra game?', I hear you say. When you're on Karlovic, an extra game is equal to an extra two or three on someone else because of his serve. If it goes to two tiebreaks, we're covered. I do think he'll win a set though, and possibly the match. He's really turned a corner in the second half of the year with his attitude, and if he keeps it up, expect him to keep up the good results.
WTA CHINA
- Kvitova -3.5 games - $1.8 - ONE STAKE
Am I game to bet against Kvitova at the moment? No way. I have a funny feeling this might go over, but I'll take the sensible play and hope that Kvitova keeps her level.
- Gavrilova to WIN - $2.4 - TWO STAKES
I'll probably have a play on the Dimi/Nadal game and some challenger spots, but the lines aren't out yet.
Cheers!

Hey mate - not necessarily. I probably do bet more favourites than dogs overall, because generally favourites are favourites for a reason and I'd rather lay the games and take them to win (which they should) rather than risk it and hope the underdog covers. Whether I take the moneyline price or not is really a case by case basis. If I feel the line represents more value or is quite big (+3.5 or higher), I'll probably take that because all you generally need is one set and you're home. If the line is more like +2.5 or less, I might take the outright price because the line's not worth it.
Hope that clears your question up

ATP BEIJING
- Murray -4.5 games - $1.7 - TWO STAKES
Ferrer's been fantastic this week. I saw his first match and was like, 'wow, he's going far', and he has. Three impressive wins, and hopefully that gives him a bit of confidence for the future.
His run ends here, however. Zverev can be a loose cannon, but Murray is a brick wall. Murray is basically a rich man's Ferrer. Ferrer's strategy is to get everything back, and he's been doing that well. Murray's strategy is exactly the same, but he does it better and he has offensive weapons that the Spaniard doesn't. I'm thinking a 6-3 6-3 kind of scoreline, but it could get ugly in one of them.
- Dimitrov to WIN - $2.8 (SPORTSBET) - TWO STAKES
Unbelievable price on sportsbet - almost 30 cents higher than everywhere else atm. The way Dimitrov has been playing, this price is incredible. His defense has been rock solid, and his inside out forehand really did the damage. Admittedly, he had a lot of time to dance around Nadal's shots and hit them, but he was murdering them.
Raonic is no mug (obviously), but Dimitrov is matching him with his serve at the moment, and his return game this week has been phenomenal. On form, Dimitrov can beat anyone in the world, and I think we'll see that tonight.
ATP JAPAN
- Goffin to WIN - $2.4 - ONE STAKE
Another one that might seem to lack a bit of value, but I'm pretty confident. I've said so many times that Cilic has looked pretty average. He demolished Monaco, yes - but Monaco is not Goffin. The Belgian is going to chase everything down, and when Cilic has been made to hit extra shot this week, he's seemed to miss it more often than not. Goffin does have a weak serve, which does concern me a bit, but his groundstroke game is far more consistent than Cilic's.
I'm leaning towards Monfils in the Kyrgios/Monfils match up, which is unfortunate because I have Kyrgios in a futures bet. I'm not confident enough to make it a play, but I feel that the Frenchman might be too consistent for Nick.
WTA BEIJING
- Keys to WIN - $1.7 - ONE STAKE
If she got past Kvitova, that's good enough for me. I didn't actually watch the game, so I'm going off some stats and brief highlights for this one.
Obviously might have some more tomorrow when more lines are released. Devastaed I didn't leave enough time to get on Rublev in Challenger Mons, probably would've recommended a two stake play at $2. Can't do it now because everyone is probably asleep ahaha

+1.75 for the day with Pironkova and Flipkens pending. Has the potential to be anywhere from -0.25 to +3.65 depending on those two results.
ATP SHANGHAI
- Paire to WIN A SET - $2 - ONE STAKE
I'm not going to pretend and say that this is a sure thing... but Paire winning this match would be the most Paire thing to happen. He turns up in matches he really has no business winning. Goffin has been super impressive in the last two weeks, and thoroughly deserves being a $1.20 favourite. He does have a tendency to fade in and out of games occasionally though, so combine that with Paire's mercurial nature and you have a potential winner.
- Simon -5.5 games - $2.1 - ONE STAKE
We cashed a beautiful winner on Simon today, who is going through a mini-resurgence after a pretty awful year. He was so unlucky to lose against Thiem in Metz after destroying Jaziri. He demolished Kohlscreiber in the third set in Tokyo and really pushed a red-hot Monfils. His consistency has returned, which means that he is literally getting everything back, and pretty deep. At his best, he's the type of guy that'll rally with you all day and his level will not drop. He's coming off an absolute thrashing of Carreno-Busta, who's a bloody solid player himself. ** is the home player, but Simon has too much leg-speed and consistency.
- Pospisil +4.5 games - $2 - ONE STAKE
Going against a red-hot Dimitrov, I hear you say? Yes and no. Dimitrov will win, but Pospisil has won three games in a row against actual decent opponents in Cervantes, Mannarino and Karlovic, and as such, is invested in the tournament. IT's often the case that guys who come through qualifying pull off a couple of shock results because they've had to earn it. Pospisil has a really solid serve and an aggressive game. I see this game as a 7-6, 6-4 kind of thing.
- Lucas Pouille to WIN 2-0 - $1.7 - TWO STAKES
Can't see this going any other way. Almagro fought back against Youznhy but I caught the third set of that game and the Russian was barely trying. Almagro was committing a lot of errors, but was saved because Youzhny committed more. I don't need to talk any more about Pouille. Was going to take the -4 at $1.9, but figured a twenty cent drop was an acceptable one for the amount of risk reduced.
WTA TIANJIN
- KC Chang to WIN - $2.4 - ONE STAKE
Same thing as with Pospisil. Chang's been through qualifying, while Peng hasn't even played a match on this surface yet.

+2.8, don't mind if I do.
ATP SHANGHAI
- Tsonga to WIN - $1.8 - THREE STAKES
Again, there are better prices at other bookies, but I take 365 for the retirement safety net. Leading into this tourney, Tsonga hadn't played any matches since the US Open. He's come out and beaten two guys in straight sets, which gives you a great indicator of form. He made the final of this event last year, losing to Novak, so had the ranking points to defend. He's also the better player at the moment, and regardless of how well Zverev has gone, should not be priced at evens. The German has so far taken out Isner (hardly a massive feat these days) and Cilic (extraordinarily inconsistent). I'm going large on this one purely because the value is outstanding.
- Sock +3 games - $1.95 (Pinnacle) - ONE STAKE
Raonic has looked really out of sorts since the US Open. His problem is that his game is so one-dimensional - smash a serve, and put away the poor return. Any time someone gets a half decent return back or gets him into a rally, his movement is exposed. Goffin did it perfectly at Wimbledon before fading away late. It's a flow on effect as well, because once he's under pressure, Raonic will start trying to increase the pace on the serves, start trying to bomb them. This is exactly what you want, because he'll start missing more and more, which means you can attack second serves more and more and get more returns back etc. You absolutely do not want Raonic to get into rhythm and be relaxed, because his serving accuracy will improve so much when he's operating at 70-80% pace - and as we've seen - accuracy beats pace all day long. If you want an example of this - look at Djokovic vs. Raonic in the final of Indian Wells (I think). Djokovic was clinical, and Raonic became more and more frustrated.
Saying that, I'm not sure Sock is the absolute ideal person to execute this game style, but his forehand is a weapon. He's been playing well, and I think he has enough to push a below-par Raonic at the moment.
- Goffin +2.5 games - $1.9 - ONE STAKE
Goffin is in career-best form right now. He was so unlucky to lose to Kyrgios in the final of Japan. I would say that his consistency and accuracy is probably the best on the ATP circuit other than Djokovic, Nishikori and Murray. His major weakness is his serve and possibly his ability to really put away the bad balls (sometimes he has a tendency to sort of 'roll' the balls into the corner rather than really hitting them). Monfils' game plan is to outrally everyone and get everything back, but Goffin's good enough to withstand that and counter. I think he has a genuine chance at winning here.

I really enjoyed reading your analysis. Very good stuff. I am going large with you and Mr. Black on Jo-Willy tonight. I think his velocity will really make it difficult for Alex to take control of the rally. My biggest concern is if J.W. can hit his 1st serve at any kind of decent rate. Dominating his service will of course be extremely important. J.W. should break Alex a few times, but I also could see him being broken at least once as well. Anyway, I am excited to see the match, it should be a good watch. Good luck to Tsonga backers!

I'm glad you did mate! I was working so I couldn't catch the match but I was following it on flashscore and it looked so good. Such a good comeback by Tsonga! I'm glad you got something out of the write up!

haha man even I'm annoyed with the push. Better than a loss, but so rarely do you see a guy not cover a handicap and win the match. Took a 6-0 to do it

ATP SHANGHAI
- Tsonga to WIN - $1.7 (William Hill) - ONE STAKE
Normally, I recommend you place 'to WIN' bets with bet365 so in the event of a retirement, you're covered. This price, however, is 10 cents higher so I'm going to take the risk.
I know Agut has beaten Tsonga twice this year. But this is Tsonga's tournament. He has the points to defend, and you could see that in the way he played. He was down a break in two sets against Zverev, but clawed his way back. He broke him at 5-5 in the last, and then rallied back from 0-40 at 6-5 on his own serve. He wanted that so badly, and when a player has that mindset, I'm confident in taking them.
- Djokovic UNDER 18.5 games - $1.8 - ONE STAKE
Simply put - Djokovic will just be too good for Zverev. The German has had a great run, but Novak is far above anything he's faced on this Asian swing so far. Zverev will look to come to the net off every serve and on most points, but that won't work because: a) Novak is the best returner on tour - Zverev doesn't have an amazing serve, and b) Novak will just pick him off with his passing skills. Even against someone as good as Federer, Novak is regularly passing him. To beat Novak at the net, you need to beat him at the baseline and hurry him up (force him to operate on a quicker schedule), and Zverev just doesn't have the pace and accuracy to create an effective approach shot.
- Murray -5 games - $1.8 (Pinnacle) - ONE STAKE
Goffiin clocked up a nice win as predicted yesterday, and in doing so also covered the +2.5. It was a show of consistency and staying power, and justified the faith I had in his form.
Today, however, he faces Murray. If you remember my write up yesterday, I wrote that Goffin probably has more consistency than anyone OTHER THAN Nishikori, Murray and Djokovic (not counting Federer atm). Murray plays Goffin's game, but he plays it twice as well, and with better weapons. Defensively, Murray won't get tired - ever. He'll keep retrieving and getting balls back and pushing you around the court. Offensively, he's miles better than Goffin. I spoke about Goffin's lack of offensive weapons, and against someone as good as Murray, that'll hurt him. -5 is a lot to lay, but I'm confident in Murray's form and consistency.
- Simon to WIN - $1.7 - TWO STAKES
HOW GOOD IS THIS GUY AT THE MOMENT??? The constency and court coverage has just been elevated. THIS is why Simon is regarded as a great player. His foot speed is incredible. Sock's been good, but Simon is on another level to Raonic in terms of ground strokes, and Sock will be exposed on the backhand side. Expect a grinding first set, but I think Simon will pull away eventually.
