1. look into the stats (there's MUCH more involved than ranking)...this site and others like it are very helpful here
2. THINK. for example in this case the lower-ranked player has indeed been made the favorite by the books...there must be reasons...so go back to step 1...rinse lather repeat
3. if still puzzled...THEN...ask a SPECIFIC question based on what u've found by clicking and thinking
__________
you wouldn't go to your professor and say "I don't understand chapter 5" now would you...no, you set up your request for help by identifying what you do understand and exactly where the understanding breaks down...otherwise u're wasting everyone's time
i'm not being a smartass...I'm quite new to this tennis stuff myself, and am still puzzled by the common "lower-ranked but favored" conundrum, but have found that by burning a few brain first cells i can either figure out why OR at least be able to ask a much better question...and sharpen my "spidey sense" for the next time something similar pops up (eg...ah yes, look at dates of those h2h meetings, or surfaces, or injuries, or performance vs a lefty, or...)
