1977 STAR WARS TOPPS Card #219 THE SWING TO FREEDOM (Luke + Leia) - psa 8.5. Cost = $32.

I said that I would post rationale, when I can. As time permits, I'll try.

Why would I buy Stars Wars cards? A few reasons:

1) I see the oddball mkts emerging. Base/bask/football are pretty well-established. I have seen Oddball markets like Golf, Tennis, Wrestling, and Non-sport going up.
2) Lot of Star War fans. Have seen some hysteria. The 1977 cards have been gaining steam.
3) The grading prices have skyrocketed. I do think this will eventually trickle down to PSA Graded re-sale prices.

OPC Star Wars cards in grades higher than 8 are certainly hard to come upon but, I can take a look through my stacks Chuckie and see if I have any for you. Are you trying to get a complete graded set 8+?

I have looked at a lot of OPC Hockey cards from the early 80s. So many rough cuts, hard to find in hi-grade.

Complete graded set 8+? Jay, good question. I haven't thought much about OPC Star Wars. I have made some nice purchases on 1977 Topps Star Wars cards.

The series 1 blue cards are considered the rookies of the key characters. The #1 Luke draws some big $$. I'm not kidding myself to think I can make a graded set 8+. That price tag has left the station, I think.

I try to collect cards in decent shape. Don't much care for banged-up cards. Jay, if u have cards you're looking to sell, of course I'm interested. If u have valuable stuff, don't sell it too cheap.

Haha my thoughts exactly. I am as cashless as a person could be, besides bills/rent and small amounts for day to day spending I keep as little money at the bank as possible. Immediately goes into stocks, crypto, and speculative stuff like NFTs. (the last one has not been kind so far... well kind of... profitable yes, but lets say I've left a TON of money on the table)

Salud, peace. That's all I'm trying to do. Convert USD into invested assets that I expect to appreciate at a rate equal to (or better than) inflation.

2021 is the year of inflation, imho. In six months, I think it will be indisputable.

BTW, I expect to make very few sport-bets going fwd. Maybe a few, but not many. The break-even rate is too hi, when u think about break-even is losing purchasing power.

Chucky you can control your breakeven point by being selective in your odds bet.

The great thing about the contrarian side of things is that they are often priced better, even if they are favored.

Consider selective dog moneylines, seek the value.

Chucky you can control your breakeven point by being selective in your odds bet...

Let me add one more thing. While you can control your breakeven based on the odds you select if you start jiggling our bet size you may give back all of that percentage and then some.

Changing your bet size changes your breakeven point, and usually not for the better.

That makes little sense except for the fact that you picked up SCCO right before an intraday 60 cent drop.

In other words, you bought right before it dropped, but of course it rose right back because there is nothing contrarain about going long with Southern Copper Corp.

Seems to me a contrarian would be shorting or selling these types of issues. The short term shows the bottom of a range, but no indication sentiment is that it will fall through.

What am I missing Chucky? Help me out here on your thinking, I must be missing the angle.

Wish I had a better answer. Have watched a lot of Silver videos talking about the PSLV silver vs the Comex silver.

Wish I understood it better. Have also watched videos on shortages at the Perth mint. Just think the short supply hits the price at some point, I expect PSLV to easily be $11 by year-end.

No Chucky, Atlanta is the contrarian play in the NBA markets. But I do think it might lose...lol.

Atlanta a pretty strong contrarian look but NY has a couple of things going for them. ATL was just in this situation, a Fund trigger in fact that won, and it is a likely give and take scenario, and to add to the probability, I do have metrics that indicate a potential pullback in the Contrarian Fund and markets as a hole.

If ATL triggers in the Fund, I would be a little surprised if it wins. I don't have to be right here, but that's what I see...
