#117357"Since it costs a lot to win and even more to lose
You and me bound to spend some time wonderin' what to choose
Goes to show, you don't ever know
Watch each card you play and play it slow
I been gamblin hereabouts for ten good solid years
If I told you all that went down, it would burn off both of your ears
Goes to show you don't ever know
Watch each card you play and play it slow"Comment -

#117362"What shall we say? Shall we call it by name?
As well to count the Angels standing on a pin.
Water bright as the sky from which it came
And the name is on the earth that takes it in..."
The sun outside is truly blinding and there's no pair of glasses that can help. May have to change the names of the shadows you have named, because what they represent was actually named by the earth, the reality.

I've said this before but it bears repeating.
You are sneaky smart.
You know things.
The only other person I refer to as sneaky smart is Ally.
She's handy to have around, she's Ithaca educated in English literature.
She's my editor. The beauty of that is I don't have to pay for an editor.
She has a degree in that field (not exactly but close enough)
I write 4 hours give or take a day.
I make grammatical mistakes, mainly with punctuation marks.
I am fully aware I over use commas.
Not only that it's been pointed out to me by people who know a thing or two about a thing or two.
As of two months ago I am what they call a contributing writer at rotowire.
Not a paid employee mind you, I'm not on the payroll, but the staff at rotowire last winter told me feel free to submit material to us, if we use it we will pay you (generally about 40 dollars for six paragraphs give or take)
I don't need the chump change, it's nice to have extra pocket change I do it because I love to research sports data, analyze the facts, and write about my conclusion or opinion some might say.
My partner and I are tying to launch a MLB weekly podcast.
We're moving on that, it's coming along, but slowly.
We think after all the research more than likely Buzzsprout will host it.
Ally is like Rick Harrison, she drowns her favorite past time is reading, she reads 8 hours a day.
I read (pardon the pun) Rick Harrison reads 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
That dude knows a thing or two about a thing or two.
The point I am trying to make in a long winded fashion that nobody does better than me, that is being long winded don't ya know (because brevity was never my forte) is the hiring editor at rotowire told me my writing is terrific, you back up your points with factual data, and it's fact checked before you submit them and we like your personality.
He went on to say "just one thing"
I'm saying to myself "here it comes"
He told me I overuse punctuation marks.
I chuckled to myself and said "I've been told" (in a light hearted manner of course)
Just to cover my bases I had a couple of chats with SBR.
They can be sticklers when it comes to self promotion.
Long story short I wanted to know what exactly constitutes an infraction and just how much I can make public here on the boards.
For instance it is OK to post I contribute to rotowire and a couple of other outlets.
However I can can in trouble and infractions if I say provide (post here) a direct link with my byline for instance.
I ain't leaving this dysfunctional social media outlet anytime soon though.
Few reasons.
I am generous and big hearted but there's this "what's in for me" side of my personality too.
I post here to fine tune my writing here.
What I post here I tweak and then if I think the final piece is good enough to submit I'll do so.
I use some of my posts here as a rough draft so to speak.
You guys don't know it but you guys are my trial and error Guinea Pigs.
Also I get a lot of good ideas from some of you.
And the idiots provide some mighty fine belly laughs.
Here's an example of what I am talking about.
My posts on the last page of this baseballthread in what is pretty much what goes into my MLB blog.
It's a rough draft so to speak. I'll show my wife and my partner the posts, Ally will correct the grammar, my partner (who works in MLB for the Twins) gives me his valuable input, then we run with it.
Here's the link.
I am such a nerdy geek.
This is the stuff that excites me.
lol
Not for nothing I'm laying 2:1 odds Fideles doesn't read this post top to bottom.
Any takers?Comment -

#117366Fukkin gotdam Nashville scored first very early.
First game of a long day, market already trying to sway the bettors to react.
Could be OT here, with nashville still winning because the market players are trying to figure out what to bounce.
Yes the sharks are circling, and it's still a game of probabilities, but I know this branch on the tree.
It's no different than all the others, intentionally deceiving.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, because I know what it could lead to.
The truth is since we decided to make a graph that's only our second data point. I can't believe I'm saying this, DDD, FlyMe crew, and SBR as a whole, but we need more data points for a graph.
Fuk, I said it. Get ready folks, I fear a barrage is coming.

In a nut shell ( I spoke with Genie) they said just be careful as to not use SBR for free self promotion, and I'll be fine.
The talk I had with Genie was a preemptive strike so to speak.
I wanted to make sure everybody was on the same page as far as the ethics fine print goes.
We are, and we are all good.
It actually works both ways.
Rotowire is quite aware of my sports related posts here
It's a win/win for everybody involved.
My main concern is I don't want SBR thinkingComment -

Unnecessarily tragic.
I've told my kids that monsters are real and show them stories like this.
Hopefully they'll be careful who they poke.
Poke might not have been the best word but we're teaching that lesson too.
