Conventional wisdom says the Under is the smart bet, but stingy defenses lead to short fields and both Driskel and Manuel are quiet capable of taking deep shots. I also can't get over the idea that FSU's rush defense is a fraud. Boston College, Wake Forest, NC State, Maryland, and Duke are all in the bottom 20 in rushing, plus two FCS schools, Murray State and Savannah State (one is average, the other is at the bottom of the FCS). When we're talking about the Gators' run-heavy offense, I'm far from convinced FSU will be able to stop them on the ground.Comment -

#353I proved again today that I need to avoid totals. If you were to go back over my complete betting history of totals, you'd be amazed at how bad I am at them...

Otherwise, I think Ohio State, Baylor, San Jose State, and Michigan State all win, but I don't like any of them as much as the top 4. Notre Dame probably rolls USC, and LSU/Nebraska will finish strong but I won't lay big points. If SC gives Clemson any leeway to tee off on their defense, the game will be over by the 3rd quarter as the Gamecocks won't be able to win a shootout. If Jarvis Jones can get into Tajh Boyd's face early and often, it will be a different story. I don't know which will happen.
I don't think I even want to watch any of the Friday games, let alone bet them. There's a LOT of shitty teams playing that day, and games that don't fit into the criteria I want to see before putting money down on them.Comment -

#356i lean osu, think i like under better, may play both..im on nd and have no prob laying 5, think they pretty set on going to bcs champ...more than likely will play clem, think they the better team and sc defense hasnt been great of late...as ugly as it is i think i have to take the points with a shithole illini team simply cause NW being 20 point favs doesnt sit well with me, if they cover more power to them i guess.. might join you on fla and trees..Comment -

LTA is an absolute BOSS when it comes to totals, so I feel they can be beaten, however it requires a TOTALLY different approach to handicapping from picking sides. Definitely not one that I really understand...Comment -

#370Future: Steelers to win the Superbowl (+3000) x1
I've been paying very close attention to the Steelers this season, and I really like what I see. Their offensive line is healthier than it's been in for a long time and is playing very well both in pass protection and in run blocking. The RB corps is deep, with Redman likely returning in a week or so and Rainey in a few weeks. The Steelers recievers continue to be one of the most athletic, fast, and talented groups in the NFL. Big Ben is out for another ~2 weeks but given the Steelers remaining schedule, I think they're likely looking at no worse than a 4-2 finish, giving them 10 wins and a WC berth without really expecting all that much of them.
Defensively, their front 7 have looked really good in the last few weeks. They're playing healthier than they have in a long time. In the backfield, the Steelers secondary is outstanding, providing a very difficult challenge for any opposing offense. In particular, they are one of the hardest-hitting groups with excellent fundamental tackling. They make plays under pressure, led by Ike Taylor.
Their remaining schedule looks like this: @CLE, @BAL, SD, @DAL, CIN, CLE
I think if they can win one of the next two games, they're in very good shape to be closing out the year going 3-1/4-0. Every year there are teams that may not have been preseason favourites but get healthy at the right time and go on a run to enter the playoffs with momentum. I think that the Steelers are that team this year, and as I also like them to win this weekend, I suspect that we won't see a better price than the current +3000.Comment -

It always feels so good to have a good Saturday, giving you more flexibility on Sunday. We'll just have to make the most of next week and the bowls moving forward.Comment -

Tomlin isn't going to make the same mistake with Batch that he did with Leftwich. We'll see a return to the classic power running game of the Steelers, short passing, and just a couple deep shots. Mostly, we're going to see Mendenhall & Dwyer pounding the ball today.Comment -

Steelers 2H pk (-113) x3
The Browns have done very little in this game other than capitalize on the very unlikely 3 fumbles by 3 different Steeler RBs. Batch is starting to get in sync with the receivers, and Pittsburgh starts with the ball in the second half. Doubling down.Comment -
