I know, I know, every Laker fan is going to come in here saying that the regular season doesn't matter and that they will turn it on in the playoffs. However, the Lakers haven't shown an ability to flip that switch this year. As I kept saying around the trade deadline, they screwed up majorly by not getting Hinrich when they could have. Now you have the most unproductive starter in the league (Fisher), a center who is injured worse than people thought, Gasol playing without much confidence, and tension building within the team. The Lakers have a tough next week or two, let's see if they can turn things around and go into the playoffs on a positive note.

#2It's hard to know for sure whether they are unable to flip the switch or unwilling to do, so far. I'm leaning towards the latter. We'll find out once the post season starts.Comment -

#10The Lakers are only 13-7 since the All-Star Break, hardly a strong record. Kobe is putting up his worst production in 10 years, the Lakers have a huge problem at PG, and the rift between Kobe and his teammates is growing.Comment -

#12good to see you still around williams. i just took a 65-1 future on thunder to win the whole thing yesterday morning. 20 wins 1300- not too shabby. i got a pretty good feeling the lakers lose to the hawks tonight. theyve been very inconsistent as of late.Comment -

#13Gotta stop giving John Hollinger articles to much credibility.
He is all numbers. One of his systems had Maresess Speights, Sixers PF, as the 2nd best player in the league
All that said. I bought a Orlando Magic to win Championship future +800 a couple of weeks ago.Comment -

No way you can go wrong with that Future Bet... Yea, it might not happen but it provides huge value because at worst they are the 3rd best team in the league imo.Comment -

#19Nothing wrong with being all numbers. I put great faith in his individual stats, but obviously there are some issues with his team stats. That being said, Hollinger's stats aren't why I like this article. He highlights some key weaknesses of the Lakers and this is one of the few articles I've seen doing so despite all their recent struggles. If the Cavs were in the same position there would be 5x as many articles criticizing them.Comment -

#21Honestly, the Bobcats would be a tougher matchup than Milwaukee or Miami. I think the Cavs could potentially face Charlotte, Atlanta, then Orlando. That would be a fairly tough schedule.Comment -

#23John Hollinger hates the lakers- the guy is an idiot. I do believe the Lakers have some issues for sure but I dont take anything that guy says for real. He is admittedly a hater of the lakers. Anything the media writes to create hits and stir up debate is good for them. They cant beat Orlando or Cleveland as of this moment but no one in the west is worrisome. I mean the Jazz are the second best team and they have major issues with guys hurting to the point of sloan not even practicing much right.Comment -

#25The Lakers always cruise through the regular season as if they're board, and yes they have been able to flip the switch when it counted in the past. They are still the best team in he West, and should at least reach the NBA Finals. Now will they repeat? We shall see, but Cavs are dangerous now that LeBron has some support. If it's Magic or anyone else, I doubt Lakers lose.Comment -

#26Orlando has too many shooters, u can prob keep them under wraps for 2 or 3 games but 4 of 7 games is too tough. Ask the cavs, they get rolled by the magic on a regular basis. Really like them to make it out of the east, regardless of char def and the return of shaqGod hates cowardsComment -

Yeah i keep hearing how magic got worse without turk. No one mentions that nelson wasnt around last year. magic are better than last years team- much deeper and stronger all around. turk was playing for a contract and hasnt done shit this year. i still think orlando is a very goood team.Comment -

#31LB - I've known the Magic team for years and Turkoglu was the one guy the Cav's could not defend. Teamed up with Rashard and that was a huge advantage for Orlando. Delonte could not defend either guy. Delonte can D up VY which is the biggest difference. Cleveland as a team has always played VY well. Turkoglu was the X-factor. Nelson isn't much different then having Alston on the court and several guys can slow him down. Cleveland now has Jamison who can stay with Rashard and Lebron, Parker or Delonte who can defend VY. Shaq can nullify Howard (if he's healthy). Cleveland has gotten much better while the Magic have gotten worse as far as matching up with Cleveland.Comment -

Okay MAc lets see what happens. Good luck to the Cavs buddy- they should come out of the east this year no problem.Comment -
