    Leans for Monday 12/15/08
Miami is coming off of a blowout loss to an up and coming team the Grizzlies last night 102-86, which was an ats shocker. In town come the Milwaukee Bucks fresh off a blowout win over the road weary and tired Pacers 121-103. The Heat will look to atone for the loss by beating the Bucks, a team that they own at home to the tune of 4-1 straight up and 4-1 ats. The Bucks have played a zillion games on the road, came home to play one, and now are back on the road again. I have the Heat as 6.5 point favorite in this game, with a total of 200, although their actual usual scores are 190.5. The under has cashed 2 out of the last 5 games between these two so a play for the over may be a light option for totals players.

Miami-6.5 (projected. if so buy a point and play it at 5.5)

Mike D'Antoni comes back into town seeing only a shell of the team that he left in the offseason. New York is playing well with 5 straight ats covers for their backers. It's hard to do 6, as adjustmets will be made by the linemaker. Gone are Raja Bell and Boris Diaw courtesy of the trade with the Bobcats. Shawn Marion is also gone now. This game features the comeback of Shaq from personal leave, and with David Lee being the New York center and having the dimensions of only 6'9" and 240 lbs facing the sheer girth of Shaq 7'1" 325 lbs, one gets the vision of someone playing in the backyard against their big brother. There is nothing that David Lee can do to stop Shaq from getting to any position on the floor that he wants to get to. With the infusion of Richardson, the Suns have suddenly gotten faster, and he is a dynamic finisher around the basket. Grant Hill has to pla more minutes now, which also means that the Suns play smarter. I think that Amare Stoudamire will go for 25 and 8 rebounds. new York is coming off of a blowout win over Sacramento. they won't have long to enjoy it. I had Phoenix pegged as a 10.5 favorite for this game, so the linemakers line is a little better than thought. I'll take the chalk in this one. the SUns should show teir old coach that they can still play. You know they want to beat him badly after leaving out of town so abruptly. Shaq feels that D'Antoni left because of his presence on the team messing with the chemistry that he had going for it.

    Phoenix-9.5 lay the chalk

Okay Dallas looks to be in trouble in this game. They are the media darlings and have been playing well as of late, although I would discount the win over the Warriors, as they are pathetic in comparison to teams from the Bay Area of the past. The Nuggets have become too dependent upon Carmeo's scoring lately and the other players on the team are starting to grumble a bit, but they are putting on a mask of coolness. it ain't cool. The Mavs barely squeaked by the Thunder peeking ahead on their schedule at this game. They won't take the Nuggets lightly in this matchup. According to my rescoring model, i had the Mavs favored by 9, so with a line of 2, it is obvious that the linemaker is giving Denver more respect than they deserve in this game. The mavs are 4-1 straight up and 3-2 ats in games at home against the Nuggets and have revenge working on theirside in this game as they dropped a squeaker to the Nuggets in November 108-105. Dallas spreads against the Nuggets at home have been 8.5 or more the last 4 times that they have faced the Nuggets at home. The Mavs are 1-5 ats coming in and Denver has alternated ats wins and losses their last 5 games, covering in their last game against the lowly Warriors. I look for the Mavs to get it done Monday night and cover the short number against the Nuggets.

As a light option, I favor the under in this game as the Nuggets and Mavs have average over/unders of 209.5 and actual game scores of 198.5 which explains why they have gone under 3 out of the last 5 games in Texas.

Mavs-1.5 (of course buy a hook to get under the key number)

    In NFL Football

Pass, No play for me... The Browns don't score points. The Eagles are known for playing down to the level of their competition. I'm not touching this one.

CK as a Knicks fan I disagree with the Dantoni-Shaq angle because Dantoni himself said a few days ago him and steve nash were instrumental in getting shaq to the suns. I do agree that the Suns will be to big for us as we struggle vs teams with dominant big men. We have always played the Suns well though even before Dantoni became coach.

Think the over is a better play

    No Celtics?

        Naw, Mark Hammond,

The Celtics are 2-3 straight up and 2-3 ats against the Jazz. They just won two straight marquee games, and I had them favored by 6.5 with my rescoring model with a total of 195.5 and for the outcome to go over that number, as they actually usually score 203 points in their games. I don't like this game one way or the other. i layed off of it, although it is appealing given the Celtics recent and season-long success. The Jazz are pesky, man. Plus we don't know if Boozer is gonna play or not. You can play it for me and let me know how it turns out, lol!

as a die hard knick fan i still believe that we need to play DEFENSE! and in this game their will be no containing shaq daddy and of course amar'e and as CK stated earlier .. the knicks starting center(D. LEE) is 6'9 compared to shaqs figure of 7'1 and thier tallest player in the rotation is 6'10 in jared jeffries who is way too skinny to guard shaq or amare .. and i do see phoenix rolling in this one the only way they do not is if the knicks shoot 50% or better which is highly unlikely so im with you on this CK and im layin' the chalk -9.5!

I'm gonna play it at Phoenix-7.5 right now adn get it out of the way. I capped this game at Phoenix-10.5, so I will gladly take them for a 4 basket win tonight.

                    CK,
CHA usually plays well in division games and 4-0. But they just trade.
ATL just end the hottest team CLE streak. They must be still hot at home. But 7.5 is a lot of pts. And they didnt cover last time they met this season. In that game, Richardson was not playing either.
                    Im leaning toward CHA.
and also CHA is really getting no scorer right now. I expect this game to go under.
what do u think about it?

                      cnleaf,

The games betweee these teams at Atlanta are usually assigned totals lines of 189, and they havve actual game scores of 187, so that's pretty tight. With those assigned totals lines a record of 3 out of 5 games has gone under. The linemaker made an adjustment due to that streak of unders and went down with the total assigned for tonight's game. 181.5 is too low. but one area of concern for me is this: Say you got on the phone and called 4 of your buddies to go on a mission to play a couple of pick up games at the local YMCA. And when you got there you were all set to face a team that had uniform team jerseys on. What are the chances that that game would be close at the end? Well I'll tell you, that game would go under, because you rold ass cigar smoking crew aren't finely tuned and are out of sorts, while the other team does back cuts and pick and roll plays all day.

I don't like wagering on a team with not one but TWO new starters in their lineup. One new starter is easy to work in, but not two. No way that everyone is coordinated with the game of all of those new additions. Throw in the fact that Gerald Wallace is back off of IR too, and that makes 3 new starters in all respects. The Bobcats made their run against the Pistons with their bench players doing the dirty work. They were a cohesive unit and capable of playing well together. Now the starters (with the new additions et al) were responsible for the team getting blown off of the floor. I'm just sayin'.... With the total being so low, and below the normal rate of production, i would say that this one is a tough call. I may have to consult with the Missus on this one for you . i can't give you a solid answer on way or the other.

I think they are back in the groove at the moment while Nets are struggling to find some consistancy. The one factor that worries me is Vince turning it on against his former employers as he tends to do.

I have Toronto pegged to win by 7.5 points with a final score of 204 points combined with rescoring. But this game didn't make my final list based upon the outrageous nature of their games. It's always a carnival atmosphere when Vinsanity comes back into town. Toronto is 4-1 straight up but only 2-2-1 ats. A true .500 if there ever was such a thing.

i'm also thinking about the bobcats today, atlanta is in a tough spot, they are coming off a great win against the cavs and have a important game against boston !! on wednesday at home.
I think they are really looking forward to this game. The puplic will probably be all over the hawks and if the line gets even higher i might take my chances with the bobcats.
Only thing that worries me are the new players /starters for the bobcats.

good analysis on the phoenix game. you've said abt everything.

the thing thats bothering me is the few touches of amare if he is with shaq on the court, and why does shaq have to be out of games to much. it disrupts the the teams play and probably the chemistry.

maybe the coaching staff should not prioritize his stats and make him play a maximum 25-32 mins a game. but he must be in uniform in every game. he is paid too well to just sit around with his teammates taking the toll of playing games whether its back to back, etc.

                                  you get the idea.

toronto is still in disarray, they should pound the ball inside the paint with bosh and jermaine. they should have one of the best interior players, at least offensively. and thats where the nets are weak.

Also, the thing with the Toronto game, is that 73% of the public is on them, yet, the line dropped from -5 to -4.5. Is there something the linemakers know that we don't?

What you think to play this

Dantoni left because Kerr didnt want him anymore.

Nash practiced Sunday with a Suns team that has two other carryovers from two years ago. It was a day after many Suns attended the opening of Raja Bell's Scottsdale Moody Blues store as Bell played in Charlotte. It was the day Mike D'Antoni was in town coaching a New York Knicks team in preparation for his return to US Airways Center Monday night.

"I feel like I've been traded," Nash said, chuckling. "I feel like I'm on a different team because everything's changed so much around here. We have a lot of differences now after quite a bit of stability but change can really be positive. Amidst that recent chaos could come strong order. We're all optimistic but it's a strange point with Mike coming and all the changes

The debate over D'Antoni's departure wafts. He spoke out last week about how he felt undermined by Suns executives and defended his decisions.

                                            Ivic,

Myself personally, I don't like parlays. I certainly don't like parlays for that much money. That is a whole lot of money for even more risk. I can't tell a person what to do with their money. It's your money. I'll take my chances with a 50% chance to win as opposed to a 12.5% chance to win, which is what the odds are that you will win that wager.

The next time though I would like to know more as to why YOU chose those three teams, not my thoughts about your play in hindsight. Give me more about what thought process made you arrive at that decision. That way I don't appear to be negative if I disagree with your choice or style. At any rate good luck as always. I definitely wnat you to win and get paid.

                                              natelli,

Look at the size of the spreads that Dallas was given in those home games. This number (1.5) is much more manageable than 10.5, 8.5, 10, 8.5, and 7 wouldn't you say? I came up with Dallas as 4-1 straight up in those games, which means that if the spreads were 2 in those games, Dallas would have had a MUCH better ats record. As far as the statistics you gave, they are erroneous for this situation. Dallas is 3-2 ats at home against Denver even with the large numbers that have been assigned to their side. The 5-0 ats record you offered the board reflects both games in Denver AND Dallas. You are correct about Dallas 19-2 straight up record against the Nuggets in Texas. That's brutal. Jason Kidd does a good job of playing Billups and he is very familiar with his game from their eastern conference games. Dirk and Melo are both unguardable. Jason Terry and Kenyon martin are the aces for both teams, although I give the nod to Terry for consistency. This game will be a squeaker and will not be decided by more than 6 points.

CK, i couldnt agree with you more dallas plays down to thier opponent when facing teams such as the thunder and the bobcats as we have seen of late, but when playing a team like denver they will be up to the task im jumping on the wagon and gettin the mavericks in at -1.5 .. and i posted the mavericks being 19-2 SU at home vs the nuggets because as u mentioned the line is 1.5 so that means they just have to win

and the magic line just came out they are -2 and dwight howard is questionable, im going to have to look into this game .. do you have any insight on this one?

Maybe you already have since lines can changed much more drastically in the NBA? Thanks and really appreciate your help!!!

I feel that MIA is gonna make a good game and cover the spread. I'm laying them at -4.5

Kenyon Martin is questionable for the Nuggets game on Monday because of a lingering wrist injury.

I hate that Miami has no inside presence and would expect Bucks like so many other teams to exploit that.
Bucks also have rest. If I could have Bucks at +5 I would be all over that and I'm strongly considering 4.5.

Another team that has been very good betting against has been Toronto and I'd not trust them in any way whatsoever.
Not even at home against a Nets not playing as well as earlier and who seem like a good matchup against them.

Both Miami and Toronto also played yesterday.
