don't get the cutback at this stage ..increasing incrementally a furlong every race and now back to 6f .. relatively quick also ??
my guess, being she's a 2yo, is there are very limited spots for her to run so there doing what's availableComment -

#8893purse doesn't bother ..understand it's a lot less than last race but it is a stakes..also purses will be significantly smaller now that it's officially the aqu meet and not baq..purse will be smaller than last also because it's a sprint

#8896the g2 demoiselle @ 9f on 12/7..open company and would make no sense doing what they did today BUT an even better opportunity the following week..a $500k @ 7f for 2yo F (ny stallion stakes)..running today would make a lot of sense shooting for that which has double the purse of the aforementioned demoiselle

in spite of what I said here have to think she'll go in the demioselle..bred for the distance top and bottom

Can she beat the best in open company? You never know until you try but I’m fine with winning these as she starts to turn 3 and mature. Not sure when the nominations come out but she will probably nominate to a bunch of them.
Hope that makes sense.Comment -

All these Army Mules do is run their butts off. Saw blood in his mouth through the stretch but he either bit the heck out of his tongue of hit his mouth on the front of the gate stall prior to breaking. But an Army Mule worry about that? Nope.
Somebody needs to name one of these AM's ROCKY or Italian Stallion might be better. Lol.
Modo:
So typical for a nice firster effort. Got caught up engaging like she was taught but as JBEX said, she had never done what she did that fast before. That slowly took it's tool as she was a bit late to switch leads, due no doubt to all the action she was dealing with for the first time, and just emptied out late. Was just winded because she did not understand. Almost like hyperventilating . More evidence was switching back to her left quickly in the gallop out. She was real tired. Not from a lack of fitness, it was a lack of proper breathing. She will be so much better next race in all probability.
Any kind of reasonable fractions early next out, and she runs great.
Both of these horses are really nice.
I can't imagine having this kind of quality back in the day. Guess it was good I didn't. I might have just lived in the barn . Lol.Comment -

#8905Here is Mr. Jaques Politi's horse winning. He did not make the trip from Ohio that day.
Game Winner.... No, not that one, the one before. See, I missed the Ky. Derby by one name. Lol.
My man Joe Imparato was the jockey. So cool to win with him. He was the jockey of Lexington Park when I was the groom and it was my 1st stake win. That was the Oceanport Handicap at Monmouth . He beat Halo that day. It's in this thread somewhere.
BTW, the groom is Fred Groves who went on to train horses in Md. a few years later.

I remember you posting about beating halo at mth..I marvel at that with how important the halo bloodline is with sunday silence being a legendary sire in japan..not only his runners but stallions he produced and stallions his offspring produced.. was truly one of the greatest stallions in the world and you beat pops..pretty cool

#8916Wow. With the 4 scratched, there is no speed but her and she is not speed. Lol.
This looks like one of those whoever breaks races. I would not chase her to make the lead but if she falls into that spot by all means take it. Her every other race is better sequence is showing an improved effort today. She should run real well in there.Comment -

#8919Following up from yesterday, that filly by Army Mule just cannot run. First one I have seen. The options are to run her for 5k maidens going long at Charlestown where that effort yesterday will probably be a winning one, and only so she can be labeled a 'winner' in the pedigree page, or just stop the madness and prepare her for the breeding shed. Not that big a deal IMO either way as her overall earnings will be small even if she wins. I just don't see the point in anything else unless there is something going on I cannot see in the form.Comment -

#8923It sure is a long way back. I can remember so clearly that moment. When Lexington Park pulled up and came back to the winners circle for me to get him, everyone in the place started clapping. He was getting a standing ovation from the crowd. I was blown away having never experienced that before. The innocence of being 18 years old and that going on. Unreal.
Would not go back for anything though Madison. Lucky to live it once. That was enough.
Reminds me of the Bob Segar lyrics: "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then". Against The Wind.
Can't imagine how dumb I actually was then. Lolol.Last edited by str; 11-19-24, 01:41 PM.Comment -

Happy Holidays to you and yours!! Looking/Living with 2 bright 4 and 6 year old grandkids and hoping I last long enough to see them realize their potential. Have to admit the world today is not what I wish to have left them.
All my best!Comment -
