#324hi there TA,
Great picks ....Wondering if your CBUS move last night was more of a hedge against another bet (perhaps a weak one ) or if you SAW through the matchup (meaning you saw Mason shutting out the Caps)
One due-dilligence question:
Which is the best STATS place around?
I mean when you need stats like 1-DAY REST RECORDS and RECORDS AGAINST TEAMS THAT ARE DOWN TWO GAMES OR OTHER ADVANCED STATS LIKE THAT.
Most sites we know of just give the basic ones not IN-DEPTH HEAD-TO-HEAD ones.
Thanks in advance.Comment -

The CBUS action was "on" CBUS not against WA nor a potential hedge.
Three public sources I use for stats are NHL.com, yahoo sports and CBS Sports between the three I get what I need not to mention it's a good way to be (fairly) certain the listed numbers are correct. Another place to get stats from is the local newspaper for each team - yes, it takes longer but now and then there's a good read that doesn't get picked up by the national media until later (if at all).
The stats you're asking about should be able to be found at another sports message board, the one that has stats listed for everything. something to consider is keeping your own records for information like this.
Good luck the rest of the season and you're welcome.Comment -

#328Nicely done again !!
Thanks for the pointers.
Wanted to ask this for a while:
Do sports betting sites (or who ever you wager with) refuse to serve you once they realize you are no ordinary Joe waiting to off load his savings in to their coffers?
(Their lawyers prolly included a line somewhere in the fineprint that allows them to refuse service without citing any reason to learned hands like you !)
At this rate, you certainly cant be good for business (for them ) any way you dice it.
I know that the house usually wins at the end of the day in any gambling run anywhere.
But in your case --- I guess they just put up with you and others like you.
Well that's the cost of doing business. You get to slaughter 98 blokes who wager (eventually). But there is always a couple who stick it to you !!

You're welcome. If you/others have questions I'll do my best to answer them but I'll tell you straight up I don't know it all and that I know what works for myself (family and friends).
There have been times when I see I'm getting a worse line than the public which is one of the early signs (books). When dealing with the local I help him lay-off/on some of his action. Won't say much more than this for certain obvious reasons.
As well as this season has gone, just a few days ago I got out of the hole/red from the football disaster. Never was late paying nor getting paid.
At the end of the day books/local most times are ahead of the game so they're happy.
Thank you and good luck the remainder of the season.Comment -

#334Hey, TA! How is it going? I see you are still doing your thing. Props to you my dude. I was wondering what was your line for that Dallas game tonight. Was it the ML? I tailed you on your pick. My payout was way more. I am not bragging. I am just hoping I picked what you picked and not just being lucky. U did play the ML? I don't think there was much value with the +1.5, right?
Thanks again for your kindness and nice pick.Comment -

Thank you. The line was DAL +170 (money line). Glad you got either a better line and or a higher payoff. I do not have an issues or problems with people getting a better line, matter of fact I'm glad if the wager is correct this way everybody wins. The listed action is always money line unless otherwise stated in the form of risked/return (if correct). You're welcome and continued success the remainder of the season.Comment -

I use a system for over 99% of the N.H.L. action. NEVER let any person or poster "talk" you into or off of a game. You have to have enough conviction and trust in your abilities to make it work for you. BOL the remainder of the season.Comment -

Each person has to make a "formula" that accomplishes the task at hand. Different people use different information and at different rates (in terms of percentages).
Here are some of the basic things I look at for each game:
depth chart: sounds simple enough but if the 1st line LW and 2nd line C are out for the game, your team will not be as strong
player stats: average time played, shots taken, shots on goal, their +/- rating, penalty minutes, motivational factor (contract year, playing against former team first few times, etc), how they fare verses the opponent and goalie, injury status, and others
goalie stats: home/road record, save percentage, average goals allowed, goalie verses vs opponent, how they do in overtime & shoot-outs and others
Watch as many games as you can - record them if you can't see it "now" and pay attention to what the commentators are saying. I know most times they flap their trap but now and then they hand out a tidbit for an upcoming game.
Put them all together and you'll find a way that works for you.
There are other factors but this should get you (and others) pointed in the right direction. Good luck the remainder of the season.Comment -

You're welcome. Everybody has something to offer. What I mean by this is that a person can learn from everyone. It doesn't matter if you're young, middle age or statesman all have things that they're good at. Eyes and ears open are a must.Comment -

I am not a fan of parlays because multiple parts/portions need to win to collect. Don't get me wrong yes I did have a parlay (two-team) a couple days ago but it wasn't a straight NHL parlay. Every now and then if I find a good spot I'll give `em a shot. Rarely will I ever risk more then $100 and always give all the winnings to a charity.Comment
