haha yeah it's cringe at times! I dont know whether it's arrogance or just an awareness of how much hype he has.

Worse was in the press conference were he responded to the question about whether he will be intimidated when standing across from a legend in Shogun. He said something like "Im sure he gets out of bed every morning and puts his pants on the same as me, and Im sure he poops just like me". That was fine, but then he went and ruined it by saying to the audience "U liked the poop comment right?"
The biggest fail was his attempted staredown with Shogun tho! SHogun just turned away and then Bones stood there all moody and sulky and didnt know wot to do! Really hope Shogun annihilates him!

You bring up these stats about his height and his techniques but ignore the fact he's never shown the ability to land a jab with any consistency let alone a straight or combinations of straight punches which is what he would need to do vs Shogun. All these wonderful techniques are great when you fight wrestlers that aren't comfortable on the feet. Even Bader was able to block all of Jones elbows, reverse his takedown and completely block Jones' clinch game and he's still very much a wrestler in MMA. He didn't land a single spinning strike on Bader either because its stupid to do that in a high level fight with someone that can put you down with 1 shot.
I mean this is stuff anyone who has a basic knowledge of fighting fundamentals would know but you apparently don't so I don't even know why I continue... People who pick Jones have selective memories. Even if we just talk about Shogun, he beat a much more skilled and proven undefeated opponent by 1st round KO in his last fight, and people said he would lose to him twice. No one was even touching Machida before Shogun broke his face. Not to mention he had his appendix removed 8 weeks before that, had a knee problem in camp AND injured his other knee during the fight. Now he's fighting a guy thats never faced adversity, never been on his back, never taken a low kick, never fought a JJ guy, and had only 6 weeks in camp compared to Shoguns almost 6 months...
Shogun has more and better ways to end the fight, more and better ways to control it and has fought taller, longer guys with better striking and bigger guys with better wrestling... they've all been knocked out viciously.
Anything can happen in MMA but however way you wanna break it down it will be a game of survival for Jones. The only way he wins is if Shogun makes some huge mistakes and Jones can capitalize, but I haven't seen Shogun deviate at all from his gameplans since being with UDL.
If you're gonna place a bet on Jones I suggest watching the Machida and Alistair fights
fair enough,man...as i said,i apologized for being a little harsh in my response to you...and that stands......
we`re all entitled to our own opinions.....nobody knows for sure how this fight will play out.....and in truth,i`m on the fence a bit here...
if you`re trying to make the case that a win over machida translates into a certain win over jones, then i guess you don`t believe in the old adage that styles make fights...because machida`s skillset is completely different than jones`...jones can be a dominant wrestler...machida wasn`t and still took rua down...imo,that`s the wildcard here...along with the cardio issue...and rua`s kicks...
win or lose,i think you were way off in your assessment of jones...you described him as some uncoordinated oaf with little striking ability who doesn`t have a prayer vs rua...i think that assessment was also very harsh...
jones is 23.....he`s still very young..the stage mightbe too big for him...it might be too soon...
but make no mistake...he is and will be a force at 205...he has a full repertoire of skills..and the athleticism to make them work....
when i took a look at this fight,i didn`t pay as much attention to rua`s pride fights as i did his more recent fights in the ufc...and honestly,i see a difference...might be the rule differential..might be just the fact that the guy has been in many wars vs top notch competition and has a little wear and tear on him...
i saw some give in jones in the 3rd round vs bonnar..maybe the fact that he was so inexperienced and it was a long, tough fight vs a strong resilient guy..or maybe he has legit cardio issues...i`m not sure...
the same can be said for rua vs griffin and coleman...maybe it was injuriy related...maybe not...i know that rua didn`t have an overly long layoff in between his last pride fight and the griffin fight....it certainly wasn`t rust...it may have been griffin`s physical size and strength that wore rua down...he`s a big 205`er as is jones..
i hope it goes a few rounds...i`ll be curious to see who`s cardio holds up...
unlike some who`s certainty about the outcome of this fight is downright scary,i`m really not sure which way this one swings....
g.l.

Great writeup rocky, and you're right. There is a certain amount of risk involved playing shogun after surgery, especially against a great young opponent like Jones. The footage of his training for this have removed a lot of doubt for me about his ability to perform at 100%, but it's still definitely a factor to consider.

Rumor is that he is walking out with 50 cent. Maybe that will give him some confidence. Unreal. I think this calls for

Only to a noob gambler betting pennies. Makes no sense. Or you must be gay and want to really suck the other fighters cokk. Watch your mouth chump. Anybody rooting for his bet to lose because he " likes" the other fighter, has issues. I don't even remember who the fukk you are, or why we are fighting? But I love the drama. Bring it, fa\*\*ot.

There is no doubt in my mind jon jones will win tomorrow night. His size, length, strength, and skill are all superior to shogun and I don't see shogun being able to win the fight in any form. Jones will be able to keep shoguns striking at bay with his reach and while shogun is very skilled on the ground I think Jones quickness with his submissions, he has potential to put shogun out with a choke.

It really disgust me when training partners pick their training partners to win and say it is not because were training partners.
Dont make picks then, if it is so challenging to be objective. If his family was on the line, i am not convinced he would pick dan miller.

Seriously? To say that Jones has a good chance tonight is reasonable, but to say that Shogun has no chance is ridiculous.

Shogun 's legs are longer than Jones's arms. Shogun packs some serious power in those legs too. Some people on the hype train are going to be surprised tonight.
Jon "Bones" Jones -- who has a huge UFC fight tonight in New Jersey with Shogun Rua -- just subdued a robber with an awesome fighting move -- TMZ has learned.
