#283I'm hoping to get off to a good start with this event tonight, I'll be around and watching live for this card.. Need some making up to do after last night...
Kinda struggled with the Ultimate Fighter event, too much hedging and too many fights that I was on the fence with.. Kinda felt it might go South from the start. This event is a little easier to cap I hope..
Get it fellas!!! Make that pay dirt!!Comment -

#300Devin Giles vs James Bochnovic
Giles is overvalued and you can get a good price on Bochnovic still.
Bochnovic will have a size advantage since he has fought a lot at LHW. Giles has never fought at LHW. Bochnovic will also have a 5" reach advantage.
Bochnovic has mostly fought cans, but he submits them easily like he should (1st round submissions for almost all of his last fights). Giles looks to be a better athlete and have fought better competition.
Giles has his weaknesses though. He gets dropped easily from middling strikes. Hasn't lost to KO yet, but that's something to look for considering Bochnovic has some good power in his hands. Giles is good at range, closing distance with straight punches and has a sneaky step in uppercut that knocked down opponents before.
Bochnovic trains with Rothwell. He looks very durable and is comfortable trading in the pocket, whereas Giles is not. Another thing to look for is that Bochnovic sinks in an RNC and takes the back very well whereas Giles gives up his back very often. Giles usually wins because the fight goes to the ground and Giles ends up floating on top of his opponents and wearing them down with GnP before sinking in a choke. Most of his sub wins are club and sub, not because of his good BJJ (he's a purple belt).
Intangibles are mental and mentioned by Cody Saftic in the video below. Giles actually stopped fighting and going to college (he's 24) prior to receiving the call from the UFC. Bochnovic quit his job as a schoolteacher to focus on fighting full time before receiving the call. Both are fighting on one-week notice. If Giles wasn't mentally prepared before, there might be some inertia getting back into things so soon.
Either way, it looks like Bochnovic +240 is a great price. +140 for +3.5 rounds also a good price.
There really isn't much footage on Bochnovic and we don't know what he'll look like in rds 2 and 3, so perhaps a hedge (sub or 3 rd decision) may be advisable. Giles doesn't have knockout power to put down Boch IMO (he finishes guys by accumulation then sub).Comment -

He has a chance early on me tinks.... Bochnovic gets most of his wins by sub and in the 1st round anyways.http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/James-Bochnovic-130011
I hedged with these against the Giles ITD prop... Giles undefeated and I'm still leaning on him to win.

#309TMZ Sports has learned Nunes complained this week about not feeling well and went to the hospital both Friday and Saturday. Our sources say doctors repeatedly checked her out but found nothing wrong. Nonetheless, Nunes said she was not well enough to fight Saturday night and has pulled out.

#314Should Nunes be stripped of the belt for not wanting to fight?
"Yesterday, she started to not feel good, so we took her to hospital," White said early Saturday evening on SportsCenter. "[The doctor] did a full evaluation and she was medically cleared to fight. She weighed in at the ceremonial weigh-in [Friday] and squared off with Shevcheko, then went home last night.
"This morning, [Nunes] called again and said she didn't feel good. So they brought her back in [to the hospital] and started running tests on her, and she said she didn't want to fight ... she didn't feel good and didn't want to fight. She was medically cleared to fight, was checked and everything was fine, but she said she didn't feel right."Comment
