#283Nothing you say that follows this sentence supports its claim. It is baseless.
What if through years of data analysis, I determined that the diet that worked best for me, consisted of zero grains, lots of fresh vegetables and meat, and relying on fat for energy rather than carbohydrates? What if I then heard about the paleo diet, and found out that it was exactly that?
In the first example I am "tailoring my diet to myself and my needs", but upon hearing that someone else has found their bodies need the same thing, I have become "ridiculously ignorant".
Also, you never hold me when we sleep anymore.Comment -

You could do all of those things while simultaneously rubbing a cat on your head before each meal. It could be called the Kitteolithic diet. There would be some great features that work well for you, and it would consist of zero grains, lots of fresh vegetables and meat, and relying on fat for energy rather than carbohydrates, while rubbing a cat against your head before each meal (not a black cat, mind you). You'd see huge health gains, and millions of people around the world would adopt the diet, preaching of its many health benefits and lifestyle improvements. Forums would be riddled with discussion of this amazing new discovery, and lives would be changed forever.
But you'd still be rubbing a cat on your head, and I'd still think it's retarded.Comment -

#286Even the gimmick diets are all beneficial to some extent. At least it makes people somewhat consider what they eat and how much. I think all that paleo crap is nonsense (that is, if it's not a digestive issue you're combatting or something like that), but at least it brings some sanity to some peoples eating habits.Comment -

#287Also, I think paleo does have some actual beneficial things going on, but it really is like a scientology cult to some people. Not all of course. Sheesh, some of the stuff those people say. Kind of like those douchebags that were big on Atkins 5 years ago.Comment -

#288Your argument is that there is some other aspect to the paleo diet than eating paleo? Please enlighten me as to what this is.
You are proving my original statement, that you just argue and argue and argue for no reason at all. You refuse to ever admit to being wrong.Comment -

#290I think you guys are using the term "diet" to describe a weight loss plan. I'm using the term (and I believe most paleo people are as well), to describe your overall diet, the things you consume. I am not 'dieting' this is my 'diet'. Much as someone who eats cheetos everyday has a shitty diet.Comment -

I'm not wrong, though. I can't be wrong, I barely even have a point. My only assertions are my personal opinions of paleo and the kinds of people who generally use paleo. For someone who lives their life in such a data-centric way, you have a very loose definition of the word "proof".
Also, I understand the context in which you are using the word "diet".Comment -

#292No, my argument is that the very idea of eating a palaeolithic diet is silly. The things that a palaeolithic diet encompasses are not necessarily silly.

#293Yeah dude, you sound pretty dumb on this one. Nobody goes on the paleo diet because it's cool, they do it because they're concerned about their health and well being. It's not easy avoiding grains. I've been wanting to get on the diet for over a year but can't give everything up yetComment -

"No, my argument is that the very idea of eating a palaeolithic diet is silly. The things that a palaeolithic diet encompasses are not necessarily silly."
so you can understand and acknowledge the science that is behind the principles of the diet, such as avoiding grain, dairy, etc...but it irritates you because there is a name attached to it??Comment -

#296I dont think anyone really wants to live or eat a diet like a true paleolithic man. They probably starved significant periods between hunts and then gorged when food was available. That's probably not the most healthy way to approach a diet and i'm sure science wouldnt support that.
Paleo diet is just a name attached to the original concept, but it signifies so much more science than just that theory. Don't get so hung up manComment -

#298Toronto has rabid UFC fans.. even though the Rogers centre seats nearly 50,000 , the cheap seats are still close to $200
Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. Those are the only three cities i would recommend you visit if you came to Canada. Unless you're the outdoors type, then there are lots of places to visit.
Hit me up if you do make it here, i'll make sure to burn you some of that BC kush. Or montreal kush if we're feeling cheap. or local shit if you're just poorComment -

#315You're completely, 100% right. Unfortunately, most paleo enthusiasts do not believe this, and the reality of the paleo diet is that it is intended to mimic the palaeolithic lifestyle. Look at it like Christianity; it has a lot of great facets to it and it encourages some very positive ways of living, but these ways of living shouldn't be dictated by an unnecessary aesthetic. Not to bash religion, but let's be real here.Comment
