welcome - i can go either way on this but i would probably lean more towards the under since you have 2 of the top 5 bullpens in the game. both pitchers have been shaky of late, which makes this game a pass for me. cb bucknor is the ump and he is 55% towards the over this year. thats not a signifigant trend.

#2245Dex, are you thinking over in the Red Sox game? I've been playing the over frequently when Lackey is at home on the mound and it's hit on a pretty high rate. He's been terrible this year at home (5-4 6.75 ERA). KC's bats have been hot lately, so this leads me to believe they will score some runs off this bum. I'm not worried about Boston's offense against Chen. Is over 10 too much?Comment -

#2251(5u) phillies -160_most of you who know my style are well aware that i am a big believer in revenge angles. i expect the phillies to avenge their NLCS series loss to the giants this entire season when they play sf (screwed up not playing them last night). the offensive edge clearly goes to the phillies, as the giants offense can look anemic at times - philly is loaded with talented bats and clearly love the bandbox that is citizens bank. on the bump tonight is cole hamels who is one of the best left handers in the game. a full arsenal of pitches including a devastating changeup should spell trouble for the giants bats for 7-8inn. he has a 1.03 whip in his last 3 games, and a .90 whip at home this year (.96 overall). matt cain is also one of the 10 best pitchers in the game, and he sports a 1.22 whip in his last 3. the giants currently have the better ranked pen at 2 vs 13, but the phillies were in the top 5 before madson went down. hes back, which puts bastardo back as the set up man. thats a lethal combo if hamels can go 7, which he should. 160 is my limit on Moneylines, and i dont feel comfortable laying the 1.5 in a game which can obviously be a pitchers duel (plus its never a good idea to play the RL on a home team when you get 8inn of offense). if i wasnt on a cold streak, i would have hit this one much harder, but a nickel in this spot would be a nice score.Comment -

#2261Had Giants as well. The HP UMP for the game was Mark Carlson. He favors the road team with a record of 13-7 and an average margin of victory of 2.8 runs for the roadsters. His last 2 games (SD V FLA) and (LAD V MIN) both road teams won by 2 Touchdowns. Padres won 17-4 and the Dodgers won 15-0. Matt Cain owns Philly as well.Comment -

#2275sure, here it is - WARNING - it is from July 7th, so it is not up-to-date (for example, Barksdale is back). i happened to see this back then and went back to it when i saw your question. i will try to find a more up-to-date this weekend when i have more time (i found a better list awhile back but can't locate it right now). and no, i'm not in an ump ejection fantasy league.....
Umpire Odds & Ends: Injured Umpires
Over the past couple of days, we have had a few individuals bringing up the fact many umpires have suffered injury and are not on the field. In the Umpire Forum, Jon Terry and anonymous gave us some great information as to the umpire injures, and umpires that are out. As we previously mentioned, Mark Wegner injured his calf in May and had what was likely season-ending surgery. Mike Muchlinksi is currently filling in for Wegner. Unfortunately, the injury bug continues to strike. A look at some of these injuries:
The July 4th Detroit Tigers broadcast reported that Jim Joyce is out for the season with a knee injury. Joyce had not umpired since June 9th. John Tumpane has received the fill-in role for Joyce. Jim Joyce has 4 ejections and 16 points in the 2011 UEFL season.
All-Star Game second base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt has not umpired since June 26th due to a head injury he suffered in that day in a game between the Indians and Giants. Wendelstedt took a ball off the side of the mask and continued the inning behind the plate, but after being evaluated by a trainer left. The incident can be seen here. Wendelstedt has no ejections and 1 point in the 2011 UEFL season.
Paul Schrieber has not umpired since May 10th. He has been out with an undisclosed injury. Schrieber missed significant time in 2010 due to injury. Angel Campos has largely filled the duties for Schrieber in his absence. Schrieber has 1 ejection and -2 points in the 2011 UEFL season.
Lance Barksdale has been missing in action since June 5th. Filling in at times for Barksdale is Alan Porter. Barksdale has 1 ejection and 4 points in the 2011 UEFL season.
Paul Nauert has been out since June 12th, and since has had his spot filled by Vic Carapazza. Nauert has no ejections and 0 points in the 2011 UEFL season.
John Hirschbeck has also been out since June 12th, his spot has been filled in by various umpires due to his Crew Chief status. Wally Bell has served as acting crew chief at times in Hirschbeck's absence. Hirschbeck has 0 ejections and 0 points in the 2011 UEFL season.
Tim Tschida has not umpired since June 16th, with Mike Estabrook filling the vacant spot on his crew. Jeff Nelson has acted at times as acting crew chief. Tschida has 2 ejections and 2 points in the 2011 UEFL season.
This is in addition to Todd Tichenor filling in all year long for the injured Bill Hohn.
During tonight's action, there were 12 non-MLB hired umpires working fill in duties:
Cory Blaser - Third Base Rockies at Braves
Vic Carapazza - Second Base Blue Jays at Indians
Mike Muchlinski - Home Plate Cubs at Nationals
Mike Estabrook - First Base Orioles at Red Sox
D.J. Reyburn - Home Plate A's at Rangers
Manny Gonzalez - Home Plate Twins at White Sox
Alan Porter - Home Plate Tigers at Royals
Chris Conroy - First Base Reds at Brewers
Angel Campos - Second Base Mariners at Angels
Mark Ripperger - Third Base Mariners at Angels
Todd Tichenor* - Second Base Mets at Dodgers
David Rackley - First Base Padres at GiantsComment
