#1682You have to calculate it. Go to the first page of this thread, you'll find it there.
Essentially, the Yankees ML is -320, and the -1.5 RL is -150. Let's say you wager $320 to win $100 on the ML. Then you would wager $100 to win $66.67 on the RL. Then, if the Yanks win, but only by 1 run, you would win your ML wager, but lose your RL wager, and you'd be at a push. If the Yanks win by more than 1 run, you win both and you're looking at $166.67 won. The line is reduced to -252 in this case.Comment -

#1689Hang in there Rev. I have gotten pounded like everyone else, especially because I jumped on last week just in time to get crushed by the Astros and then this weekend sucked and I didn't have the winnings built up that those who followed from the beginning had.
I'm down but not out and I'm changing some things up and going to manage my money even tighter (I was already playing the correct way but these early big hits are making me adjust). I'm doing things a little different than the "pure" system but this is Rev's thread so I won't post all the changes I made so as not to confuse anyone but I will throw out 1 opinion for those looking to reduce some of your risk.
I think it can be a bit much when we are on a Situational/Series system bet that is also the Favorite system bet. So I am choosing to play favorites that are not part of our other systems bet. I just take the biggest favorite of the day that we are not on (most cases the 2 or 3rd favorite of the day). With this approach it spreads the risk a little thinner and you might have less chance of winning but the chalk is always lower, so if you chase it's a more conservative chase.
Not telling anyone to change what they are doing or follow me instead of Rev, just wanted to throw out an idea to those whose banks have taken a beating and are looking to reduce their risk a little.
Thanks to G, B2W and others who have posted ideas along the way to reduce risk and increase reward, they have helped me much and I appreciate the positiveness and collaboration on this thread.
Now lets get back to winning money.
I'm still behind you Rev, keep up the good workLast edited by lovetobet; 05-03-10, 02:07 PM.Comment -

#1690Not saying follow my lead, but for the Yankess series, I will bet to win $500 for series. I will bet to win $500 with Sabathia on the mound, if it loses, I will bet in second game to get back what I loss plus $500 with Burnett on the mound, they arnt getting swept by the Orioles, but do follow this unless you have the bankroll to do so.Comment -

#1691Hi there from a rookie in this forum. I have been following this thread from the beginning and I must say I have learned plenty from all of you on here. From not knowing much about the betting lingo to quickly understanding.
The chase system seems very lucrative only and I mean only if 2 things would occur.
1/ It seems as if money management is the key to success. You could be the best capper in the world but if you are not smart with your money the dreaded "C" bet loss could hurt you very much.
2/ Handicap series to the max....don't go by gut feeling or your emotion, stick with the system to the end!!!
I have admired the work REV has put into in this thread and been very impressed with the amount of insight everyone has. There does not seem to be many so-called "haters" in here which led me to follow on a daily basis.
I know that the past week has been rough on all those who had "C" bet losses and from what I understand because of the length of the season and the amount of plays that will be made I can truly see that in the long run everyone on here will make a profit by the end of the MLB season.
Good luck to all who have been tailing REV's analysis and picks. Although I an a so-called newbie to this thread I can see that his expertise will shine through.
Cheers!!Comment -

#1692I do have 1 question for Rev!!!!
You have mentioned on her numerous times about putting series through your filters. How do you determine what filters are used to see whether a series is worth picking! This is one of the things I would love to learn on my own.
Maybe it would be beneficial for me to take the time to analyze the stats myself and develop my own filters.
Any help would be much appreciated and GL this week....time to rebound IMOComment -

#1701Quick question
LOL, ok I had two questions while I was out washing my car, but a few too many beers and dead brain cells and I can't remember the second question
what is the probablility that BAL will win 6 games in a row??
3 of which are against one of the best teams in the league
I don't know and need to finish washing my car. However, I can tell you the odds are pretty damn low. I need to finish up the car and a couple of beers so I don't have time to figure it out. I do have already have a table with the probabilities of how many wins and losses a team with a certain winning % will have. A 28% winning team should go on a MAX of a 4 game winning streak. I have seen it go over these numbers, but it is usually pretty close.
I already have a wager down on the RL. Bout to put another down ML or -1. I am doing the opposite of what I was questioning yesterday (playing a team in 2 systems), but the Yanks are not gonna get swept by the Orioles this series PERIOD
If they get swept I may decide I don't need to be doing this and call it quits

#1702I had already jumped on the Yankees last night before I even saw any of the plays. They will most likely sweep Baltimore right under the rugAlready put in to win $200 on the -1RL and just may put in some more here on the -1.5. Takin the Rockies tonight too but not in a chase.

#1703Hi everyone!
I have been "lurking" on this site for several weeks and I must say that it is very impressive.
As a novice sports gambler I am still getting my feet wet with the Rev's systems...but it's hard to argue with success as the saying goes and this looks pretty good to me.
Boston was a disaster on the weekend ....tonight I am going for the Yankees on a "revenge" bet against Baltimore and I am wondering about Arizona to take Houston...
Anyway, just thought that I'd stop "lurking" and come out and introduce myself.
Thanks Rev for all that you do and to all the other contributors that I am learning from.

#1707Welcome Nasty and Brian
have seen several "novices" joining in the past couple of pages
Just the right time IMO. Just after a rough patch. I am a believer in cycles, so I think the thread is due for a bounce back.
Anyone who is really a novice, please really consider taking a very conservative approach. Look at the C bet and total wagered in a series and think about what
you would say "I have no problem losing this amount on."
Even wagering small amounts it can build up quickly one way or the other.
good luck guys
I think you will be happy with the results at the end of the year if you play it conservativelyComment -

Yes you are most certainly right on being conservative...I have to ask myself on C bets...do I want to risk that much...or maybe a smaller portion and try to preserve my bankroll....that is always the number one consideration in managing risk....preservation of capital.Comment -

#1714Nice hit on the Sox, too, as long as they can keep this 10-run lead. The thing that gets me about the Sox is they can come out swinging and take a 14-4 lead on the Angels, they can sweep in Toronto, and then they get swept by the Orioles. I'm not playing any series they're in until they can show me some consistency.Comment -
