SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants got the offensive first baseman they've been seeking. The Cleveland Indians received a pitcher they consider a future big league starter.
Garko
The Giants acquired first baseman Ryan Garko from the Indians on Monday, filling a big need in the infield and adding a key right-handed bat.
Garko was a late lineup scratch for the Indians before they opened a road series against the Los Angeles Angels, and he just needed to fly about an hour up the Pacific Coast to join his new club. He was batting .285 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs in 78 games for Cleveland, including .343 this month to raise his average 25 points.
The Giants, who fell out of the wild-card lead with a 3-7 road trip, gave up Class-A left-hander Scott Barnes in the deal. Barnes, considered a Top-20 prospect in San Francisco's organization, was 12-3 with a 2.85 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 18 starts and 98.0 innings.
The deal was first reported by ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
The 28-year-old Garko is expected to be in uniform for the Giants on Tuesday -- and general manager Brian Sabean hopes to keep him around beyond this season. Garko, who played at Stanford and is in his fifth major league season and third full campaign, will be eligible for arbitration for the first time.
Garko will get most of the at-bats and playing time at first base, with Travis Ishikawa assuming a more limited role.
"Professional hitter, really punishes left-handed pitching," Sabean said. "It complements what we're trying to do to develop Ishikawa. The timing was right. He can drive in a run. He can hit a three-run homer. ... The pitcher we gave up is probably going to pitch in the big leagues. I think it was good for both clubs."
The sides began talking several weeks ago, Sabean said.
The Indians see Barnes as a starter one day. He will initially report to the club's Class A affiliate in Kinston, N.C.

Don't take Cleveland. Word is they just traded Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco (who was hitting very well for them recently). Angels are 14-4 this season against lefties after coming off a win their previous game.

In all due respect Panekkk i dont take trends in consideration at all in my selecting of plays. Play trends and you might hit 50% of your plays if your lucky in my opinion. Of course the starting lineups have something to do with all capping but im not sure what trading Cliff Lee has anything to do with the play. It was only a lean and as of now its not a play for me. I underdstand who the starters are in this matchup and thats all that matters to me. GL

(My Opening Thoughts)
Let me share with everyone who reads this thread a important fact about sports wagering and this is my strong opinion and you might dissagree. The problem with alot of normal everyday people who wager on games want action all the time. I've seen people post on this thread almost everyday saying, "hurry up and post, do you have any plays? I want to play a early game." Typically people want action on a game at every different start time so they can be entertained with a wager. They place wagers just to have action without making smart plays.
More than 99% of all sports bettors could be categorized as square whether they choose to admit it or not. This is because most people use sports betting as a leisure activity and are blind to the realities of gambling.Square bettors wager on sports just to have action. In an effort to kill boredom or capture the adrenaline rush they get when a team they bet on covers the spread after nailing a buzzer beating basket. This behavior is often exacerbated under the influence of alcohol or peer pressure by fellow square bettors. This impetus to bet usually leads to a string of bad habits which ultimately ends with the bettor losing more then they win.
Instead of doing their homework the amateur seeks and unfortunately takes the advice of sports pundits and friends with a bias. Using the “what have you done for me lately” system of handicapping the square bettor will easily lay the points on a double digit favorite with a two game winning streak without further research. Consistently overrating their alma-mater and having faith in short term trends quickly drains the square’s wallet. The square bettor will place their wagers when it is convenient, failing to use strategy while disregarding line movement. Hurried betting minutes before game-time is the norm. Finding the closest or easiest to navigate sportsbook is more important to the square bettor then taking time to locate the book with the best line or price.
The squares idea of money management is setting aside a small chunk of cash and betting random amounts depending how they feel about each game. Inevitably they have a winning weekend. Feeling particularly confident with the help of a few beers they give away yesterdays profit after making a losing bet on a sure thing. Conversely the gambler who had a bad Sunday betting on the NFL feels the need to chase their losses. Betting on Monday Night Football becomes mandatory because it is the last opportunity to at least breakeven before next weekends games.
Another pitfall and favorite choice for square bettors are parlays. Parlays are a high risk illusion with a payoff to appealing to resist. Unaware that the odds of winning a three game parlay are not much bettor then 1 in 10 square bettors eagerly lay down their money for a chance at a big pay day. Article by: ATS Consultants, INC.
(My Closing Statement) Moral of the story is dont wager just to have action on a game. As you saw i had no early action plays today. If you dont have any early action plays then big deal, win your wagers later in the day or evening and just watch the early games for fun. You will win more wagers in he long run.
