the ebb & flow of variance (in alternating waves of positive & negative) are caused by the ebb and flow of "sharp" and "square" results...the last few days is a very strong "square" period...temporarily killing the value-hunter while (also temporarily) rewarding the chalk-eating squares

results ebb and flow--sharp with $-gains, then square with $-losses--but if all your picks are driven with long-term price-value in mind (rather than with an impatient "just win the damn bet tonight" compulsion)...over the haul you're a winner
