Women's semis seem straight forward. Safina has been outstanding and should prove too much for the youngster Cibulkova on the big stage on a surface she has dominated in 2009. The other semi, I think Kuznetsova is the better clay court player ... but fatigue could be a factor. Remember, Kuznetsova and Serena played AFTER Stosur & Cirstea. Stosur was on court half the time that Kuznetsova was and this is the first back-2-back situation for these players in two weeks.

I don't see any value in playing the big favorites at those prices - at least that is my tennis strategy at all times - and in looking at parlaying them, the odds end up being .5:1 on a payout for Safina/Kuznetsova which is also not very good IMO. I can see the value in taking Stosur at +270 or +280 whatever you're getting right now. Think if you want Kuznetsova, I'd take her in 3 sets. Unless Stosur absolutely shows up and lays an egg, couple in the fatigue, I think Stosur takes a set at worst and if Kuznetsova's yips show up at the wrong time, she could get beat. Key for Stosur is maintaining what has been a superb first serve at RG and amping up her 2nd serve. In looking at the two 3 setters she played here, when she lost it was because her serve lost it's pop and her opponent jumped on it. Think you'll be able to gauge her progress pretty simply for the match. If Stosur is winning close to 70% on her 1st serve and at least 50% on her 2nd, she'll be in it to win it. She'll have to do that since Kuznetsova has consistently been winning 65-ish on her 1st and 50+ on her 2nd in this tournament. Should be the more intriguing of the two matches for me at least.

Gonzalez or Soderling? tough match to call, Gonzo has some serious weapons in his arsenal, a tough serve and the almighty gontastic forehand. He can be very hard to play against when he gets his way because players try to stand back behind the line to get something on his forehands but then he mixes it up with a drop shot making it near impossible to reach.

However, Soderling has the momentum and real belief now, he's a solid player, every now and again a total outsider wins a grand-slam, this could be another one of those years.

I haven't found anything yet to talk me off Gonzalez either. Still just watching the line movement right now. It's been -130 to -140 at my book back and forth. Also tinkering with another set bet for tomorrow to get better odds on Federer than spending -300 or more. Worked out for a small profit with Del Potro the other day. Take a unit each on Fed in straights at +160 and Fed in 4 at +250. Not sure if I will do it, but that is a thought today.

          *F.Gonzalez -135
Here's where I'm at here. Soderling has played out of his mind in two straight matches using the old Fernando technique, go big or go home. It's worked. Gonzalez though has admitted he has downsized his game, realizing that he doesn't always need to hit the big shot to win points. He's been remarkably consistent on this surface without much fanfare. Now, he has a chance to step into the spotlight. The way I see it, if you would have put these two players on this surface two weeks ago and given me this price on Gonzalez, I would have happily snatched it up knowing Gonzo is right now, a Top 4 clay court player. Soderling is not. Yes, he could continue his roll here, but an extra day off may actually allow the moment and some rust to settle in on the Swede.

I might throw a small amount on Federer 3-0 and 3-1 to look for some profit in that match, but my main wager is on Gonzalez in what should be a heavy hitting affair.

This Gonzalez-Soderling game shows just how psychological the sport is. The old Soderling would have gone into self-destruction mode after getting broke so early but the new Soderling doesn't get phased, puts the coolant on and averts the meltdown. You have to actually believe you are the greatest to win in tennis at a narcissist level. Its not over yet but it would have been for the old Soderling.

Holy crap did people hammer down the set betting at Bookmaker. I put my Federer 3-0 at +160 and 3-1 at +250. Now it's +100 and +150. Heavy money on Roger all around.

Gonzalez has to make in interesting by giving the break back. This is gonna be interesting. Huge pressure on both.

Gonzo choked. Wow. Up 4-1. Now down 5-4 and Soderling should finish him off here.

Helluva match. Great drama. Too bad for me that Gonzalez was the one who let the moment consume him.

This game was totally psychological, it was won in the mind, Gonzalez couldn't keep it together, Soderling didn't show emotion, not even once in the whole game. He kept a cool head and stayed in the match, hats off to him.

Unfortunately in tennis this sort of beat happens A LOT. Between this and baseball with the bullpens, I'm used to it here lately.

Keep riding Safina all the way to the bank. Easy money. Enjoy the show as she and Federer are obviously going to win. Damn shame though because if Anchi was not ousted by Azarenka she would have made for a thrilling final showdown rematch and i know i don't speak for myself when i say that i would much rather have prefered to ride Ivanovic all the way.
