Adding... ATP Bogota: Karlovic +117
This line seems to be set on two notions: Stepanek owns the head-2-head, but all but one of those matches is from four years ago when both were in different places. The clay match this year tells nothing to me as it's Karlovic's worst surface, so him losing easily in straights is not a shock. The surface here in Bogota and the conditions obviously jive well with his huge serve. The 2nd notion seems to be perceived fatigue for Karlovic. Yes, he played a long week in Newport last week. But he got an extra day of rest this week thanks to the rain, so he had three full days off in between the Newport Final and his first match on Thursday. News also indicates he has pulled out of ATL next week. To me, that was just smart regardless of where he finishes this week as he really struggled to go from this climate to a hot/humid climate in ATL and retired after one set in that tournament. So I'm double dipping with the Karlovic future already in play. Keeping all the 250 plays outside of parlays at 0.5 unit.

Tomic finally blew it in the 2nd, so even up on the day. Karlovic really should be able to beat either one of these bums tomorrow.

Easy green out choice to hedge on Tomic today @ +110 against the +600 Karlovic future. Ivo future was 0.5 unit, so Tomic play is for one full unit. Small profit if he wins, bigger profit if Ivo wins.

ATP Atlanta Mini-View Time to open the US Open Hard Court series in the ATL. This tournament has only been around for four years, so the trends are still young. For the most part, this is a 250 where seeds do pretty well. A player in the top four seeds has won this tournament each year. Isner is the mainstay at this "home" tournament for the former University of Georgia player. He is 12-3 all-time with a title and three Finals appearances. Kevin Anderson has played the next most matches here with an 8-4 mark. The other seeds to round out the top four are Monfils & Pospisil. Interestingly, there has been at least one non-seeded semifinalist in each of the four years in Atlanta.
The Outsiders
So who might be the party crasher this year? Jack Sock might be an intriguing prospect this week. He's got some good Mojo in his corner right now with his grass court play. The surface should suit him and he's got Colombian Alejandro Gonzalez to open. That is a winnable match that would then pit him against Monfils. He also has Istomin to contend with in his quarter, but he's one to watch. Istomin himself could make a run from a lower seeded position. Steve Johnson would be another guy with a realistic shot to run out from a non-seeded position. He does have Querrey to open which will be tough, but after that it's a workable draw with Pospisil likely the quarterfinal opponent. With the Canadian still struggling for consistency, Johnson or Querrey has a good shot out of this quarter. Querrey technically falls in as a seed due to Stepanek dropping out, but you could probably consider him an Outsider too. If there's a left field type of Outsider, it's Ryan Harrison. Poor form mostly in 2014 and in Isner's quarter, but Harrison has made the semis twice in three tries in Atlanta.
1st Round Upset Alert
Ginepri over Stakvosky
Pasha over Lacko
Johnson over Querrey
Futures
Isner +250
Anderson +325
Istomin +1450
There are some weeks when looking at the top seeds is beneficial. This looks like one of those weeks potentially. Both these guys have had great success in Atlanta, especially Isner. Istomin might be your typical take a small shot and hope for the best. He is in a winnable quarter with Monfils who is probably a boom or bust type this week. Given that the Frenchman hasn't played since Wimbledon & might have been more likely to be playing on clay this week, that could leave his quarter open for someone like Istomin. A real Hail Mary would be Sock @ +3000. He's also in the Monfils quarter and would have to go through the #3 seed in his 2nd match, but again this quarter looks as if it may produce a surprise other than Monfils moving through.

Not sure about individual players, but in general if the clay is wet then theoretically it should play heavier/slower.

Damn. Pasha had the chance to serve out the 2nd set and showed his inexperience/nerves and then as you'd expect, just totally fell apart. Went from 5-3 to losing it 7-5. Damn.
