I know of someone who suffered exactly the same fate as Aston but luckily for a much smaller sum
As with malicious virus spreaders there are some nutters out there who just like to do damage to others for kicks onlyComment -

#353First time I have seen this thread. Needless to say "Aston" was fairly busy on the BetFair forums at the same time as he started this thread. The problem is that whilst $161,000 is a lot of money, it is just ´background noise´in the Betfair horse racing markets.
As has been said, there are only two possible explanations:
1) Aston lost the money
2) His account was hacked by someone who had nothing to gain from doing so.
Given the amount of information that hacker would have to have obtained to:
Hack into the Betfair account
Change the exposure limts
Make deposits with a CC
I am inclined to believe that Aston lost the money. Not least because of Astons posting history at Betfair, he mentions some fairly large bets made in the past (backing horses not laying them).
This is nonetheless a scary thread and maybe has lessons for us all.Last edited by Dunder; 11-25-09, 08:07 AM.Comment -

#354i remember this topic from quite a while back. no need to even speculate imo. justin's comment #351 as well as the sudden silence from the guy who started this topic made it pretty clear what was really going on here.Comment -

#355look at this, the guy claimed that "noyb It does not say in there terms they should block my account but they did block it.. the last time I myself made a large bet and thought they should have flagged the account right away"
For him, this large bet was $5000! How come you can make $160.000 withouth betting LOTS of times sumes like that one?
This guy lies. I've a long history of KYC against betfair, but aston tried to end his punting life, and lost the control of his bank. He chased his lost bet, and voila, all lostComment -

#356Gutted i missed this from the start
Having read it through it is fairly obvious what occured here and i am surprsied that this complaint was allowed to go as far as it did on thsi thread without the guy being called out.
Also wtf, are you a bitter former flutter employee, you sure sound like one, just curious.Comment -

#358aston lost his bankroll. He is not the first to say somebody hacked into his account. His sudden disappearance after 113 rapid fire posts tells alot. This after saying he would keep SBR updated. He kept saying that he would never have bet that much to wipe out his account. He fiinally comes clean that he set his max bet cutoff at $50,000 per pop. Only one reason he would do that, aston was prepared to make $50,000 wagers.
How convenient for the hacker that aston was on vacation. Why would a hacker use aston's credit card to deposit $15,000 into aston's Betfair account?
aston lost control and got wiped out. He was desperate so he deposits $15,000 from his credit card. When he lost that, he knew it was over. This whole act aston put on was to get out of paying his credit card bill.Comment -

#359Why in the hell would all you guys not believe this guy? I know he did a few dumb things like keeping that much coin in a single book account and not printing the account history immediately upon finding out what happened. Maybe he freaked out. I probably would have as well. Give him the benefit of the doubt and lets see where this goes. Good luck Aston and I hope SBR can help you.Comment -

Quite aside from the fact that to believe Aston it means that someone has hacked into his accounts with nothing to gain, on closer inspection Aston´s story has more holes than Swiss Cheese.Comment -

#361BTH, aston's last post was a year ago. He was a degenerate gambler and did not tell the truth. Thats why he is not getting the benefit of the doubt.Comment -
