. The Dutch have just reached the world cup final. I've watched the second goal about 12 times and it's marginal at best. Sit back and think about it. They can win the world cup, just like any other team that has reached the final. The final is a knock-out. Its 50-50.

EP, what are you talking about? Lucky bounces !!! This is not basketball, this is a game where by the best team has won. If you look at all footie games as lucky bounces, 50% of all results should be re-adjusted.

Netherlands has got great talent, but the diving and faking is getting out of hand. Eventually they'll dive once too often and it will cost them. I thought Ronaldo and Company were bad, but the Dutch are absolutely brutal with their diving.Comment -
The own goal against Brazil. Lucky that the goalie and defender bounced into each other to allow the ball to go in. The 2nd goal today bounced off two defenders and almost hit a Dutch player in the box - if it hits the Dutch player, the goalie was in pretty good position to stop it and that was the play I think he was trying to make. Those are lucky. I didn't say a win isn't a win, but they have had more than their fair share of luck in the last two matches. It might last another match and they win it all, but my point is that I don't necessarily think they have outplayed their opposition over the course of the last two matches - but they have been in the right place at the right time. I just have not been impressed by their overall play personally. They have great individual talent, but you can see how they get frustrated when things are not happening for them. I just don't see them working enough to go against a team like Spain that is usually superbly patient. That's why I think Germany would be a much better match-up for Netherlands due to the pace they like to play at. Just my two cents.Comment -

EP, I'm with you. Yes, the Dutch have had a few breaks along the way. The bottom line is that they have won the game. The best and "luckiest" teams do this in football. It's not an exact science. They have had had the right breaks, but this could be enough to win the WC. It's complex. The professional game is pretty amateur wihen it comes to officials. Even our own Rugby League (A bit like American football,but without armour) uses video technology. The bottom line is it's Holland v Spain/Germany. From a pure betting point of view - DONT BET ON CUP GAMES..........

Every team that has won this tourney has had lots luck. 2006 italy had tons of luck. 2002 Brazil had luck as well (belgium game). 1998 france got luck as well( golden goal). 1994 brazil got luck as well(pk's). 1990 Germany had luck as well. In England we have the FA Cup. A team full of carpenters and plumbers can beat a team of proffesionals on the day. Luck plays a major part. Play online roulette and get 15 reds on the bounce. It's the equivalent of New Zealand getting a draw against Italy. Luck, whatever probability this calculates to be will play apart in possession, shots on target, goals scored and yellow cards (future suspensions).
