#37Mexican food =/= Spanish food =/= TexMex food
The tacos that you are most likely thinking of are of the texmex variety. Here's some real tacos:

Spanish food is from Spain.
Mexican food is from Mexico with
a heavy Spanish influence, but
to my taste buds both are great.
I love Mexican enchaladas, tacos,
mole and huevos rancheros.
Greek, Italian, Chinese are fine with me also.Comment -

Finally someone realizes this. Spanish meats are very good. The rest of the food tends to be a little bland compared to American cuisine, but it is still very tasty and i would eat it 7 days a week if I could.Comment -

#42Yah, but I think alot of Americans are geographically challenged. Mexican food is from Mexico. The "Mexican" food that most Americans are familiar with isn't Mexican food at all; it's called Tex-Mex. Food from the Dominican Republic or any other country in that region would be classified as Caribbean, and is pretty similar to Louisiana cuisine (with the exception of coconut being added to Caribbean dishes). And, of course, Spanish food is from Spain. All very tasty, though.Comment -

#44South American food is also good.
Ecuador: Fritada & yapingachos
Colombia: bandeja piasa
Peru: lomo saltado
Are just a few dishes that come to mindComment -

#46Here's the typical Costa Rican dish, called a 'casado' (which is also the same word for being married). Is there any coincidence that the word for 'handcuffs' and 'wife' is the same in spanish?

#52We do have a couple relatively authentic Mexican spots were it is mostly takeout, but they have like 3 and a half tables in there as well. We also have a few franchises of those restaurant chains that do more Tex-Mex.Comment -
