I used to have a problem with this back when I was doing blow (about a gram a day - damn the cheap cr prices!) and downing alcohol daily while watching/betting on games, but it all cleared up when I quit doing both on a daily basis, so I really think that your problem is the oxy all the time. I don't know what a doctor would prescribe to safely you off of opiates, though.

About 30% of all suicides are accounted for by clinical depression as we know it. Sometimes, it is that persons way of solving a problem (financial, legal, etc). Other times, the emotional pain is the equivalent of dealing with terminal cancer. The way they feel is a death sentence...perhaps there is room to suggest that the act is rational.
I see alot of psychological problems as interpersonal ones, that is, problems arise due to not being able to optimally interact with the World. The self-help movement and more so the process
allows the members to learn how to be part of the community again. That, in my opinion, is what brings purpose.Comment -

very true EI, i agree with these statements. being labelled a "deviant" within society is very outcasting for the individual.
i find it interesting, that on the contrary to those diagnosed with clinical depression completing suicide, nearly an equal percentage of suicides (i believe the figure is ~27%) occur without warning, i.e. the individual expresses no mental, emotional, or physical anguish.
This is sadly becoming a bigger problem in our society that we still have very little clue to deal with.Comment -

I think of suicide sometimes still, during most unhappy periods. My childhood was mostly unhappy. I'm somewhat happy overall now, despite being unemployed and having hardly any friends. I'm a bit of a research nerd and have read through a lot of research on happiness, a fair bit of which has helped me.
Bateman, what do you think's making you unhappy? If you or anyone else reading this is suicidal or otherwise depressed and wants to get better, I could probably help.
