Ok so you would be on the hospitals side over your families. I believe hospitals shouldn't be allowed to decide who they should treat and everyone should be treated equally regardless of what drugs or vaccines they take or don't take.

Thats your opinion and you're welcome to it. Transplants are a big deal and hospitals don't make impulsive decisions as to who gets organs. They have teams consisting of ethicists, transplant surgeons, chief physicians all sitting down and writing, refining and constantly re-examining the criteria for a transplant. And then there is UNOS who has their own team as well. They have to make sure that the person receiving the organ will take care of it.

So the hospitals has a huge responsibility in saying who gets an organ and who doesnt.

I read more about the story and its clear he knew he had to receive the vaccine or not be listed for transplant. Transplant recipients are at a much greater risk than the general public of having serious illness from covid as they are on medications that basically shut their immune systems off
so they dont reject the newly transplanted organ.

Am I on the hospitals side? of course. I've worked with heart transplant patients for 10 years and the system in place work extremely well. Including mandating vaccines. If it were my family member, Id plea with them to get the vaccine. If they chose not to knowing the consequences, thats their decision.

There are billions of people, people die in exceptionally rare ways. You could drop dead tomorrow. If you're playing the odds, all the logic and rationale says you should get the shot. And dying from covid as an unvaccinated person is not rare at all, so I don't see the argument to begin with
