#89751heard "positions" before, I like the sound of that. Need to think more about that and try to put myself in the bookies shoes. need to try on everyone's shoes.
I need to collect and analyze data related to the gamblers. you can get all the stats, all the lines, all the plays, but where do you find info about the bettors? do books really put it out there?
I guess bookies release a line into the wild and shit happens. who knows who's waiting to pounce. everyone's playing games, not just the athletes.

Give the books more credit, they usually know exactly what will happen when a line is released. I've given examples of how action is generated with the line more than few times, and through multiple sports. The books have a long haul in mind even if they are busy setting today's lines, as it's built into the system.
Everyone is playing games, remember all that talk in the CFL posts about groups of bettors here, groups of bettors there, some groups getting confident, some getting pummeled; nearly all of it under the context of some kind of market settlement.
It all applies here. Don't worry about bettor information from books (sometimes my info is based on a conference call as well), there's plenty of bettor info out there as it is.
There are two types of bettors, streak riders and streak breakers. You can build from there and apply that thinking down to an individual stat, in any sports.
If so much gravitates toward 50-50, then we must consider some things when the stray too far from that line. We'll get more into that, but chasing and betting into the "due factor" are two of the most dangerous things a bettor can do in these markets, that's by design.
Think about that.

I’ve often posted on how betting on sports is a three way street; and understanding all three ways will go a long way towards a few more winners and few less losers. There’s the odds maker, the bookmaker, and the player. I’ve discussed these relationships in the past, most notably, that it is player vs player (not player vs bookie) and the true costs of vigorish, and today I want to focus once again on the bookmaker’s perspective...Comment -

No matter how much we tell ourselves something is never "due" or can't be "due" the fact remains that the bettors that make up the marketplace don't really believe that when they bet.
That's why the factor exists in the marketplace, whether or not it exists in real life.
It gives us an edge, be glad...

#89760Remember, for this example, our "timing" is still a range of 15 games and a decision not to pin it down but go for them all. If we get a turn and a sell signal before hand, we could be negative for the trade, but we'll be walking right into a sell trade.
At one point, we'll get a run, we almost always do. Remember, we might have hit 15 units yesterday, but we're coming from a perspective of already being up more than 50 units on the last 3 trade signals.
So losses are not out of the question here.
I almost started a PT thread titled "KVB Initiated Coverage on the KVB NBA Contrarian Fund"
Then the first post says BUY Kings x15 units.
Can you imagine the trolling shit storm to ensue?
Essentially though, that's what I've done here. I've stated BUY coverage on my own Fund.Comment -

#89763Phoenix a strong contrarian play today, but the raw forecast was just too much.
Even the plays just out of the radar are starting to turn. Let's see if Phoenix can hold it.
