Poker player Ron Dalgo from Maine is a scam artist

As a few of you know, I have backed some poker players out there over the past year. My experiences have been positive and I have enjoyed getting to know players from all over.

Unfortunately, Ron Dalgo from Maine has been an exception. He has owed money back to me for several months and there have been no signs of him returning any of it.

After he signed a staking contract, I fronted him money to participate in a pair of tournaments going on in Montreal. A friend of mine confirmed he was physically there, but Ron apparently lost so much in cash games leading up to my events that he no longer had the stake money.

Ron said he would refund my fronted money the following week after getting home, but he never sent any of it. He then had more stories after that and still no money returned.

I usually would not have gone public with something like this, but felt warning others out there was in order at this point. Will be posting this on poker forums too.

Thanks for having a look PO. Normally I would agree but Ron picked his spots carefully. He did not enter events frequently due to living way far away. I followed him for quite a while before backing and he was solid.

I've also backed my share of more established players and can say there's generally nothing more profitable or rewarding from it. You either get juiced with high markups or deal with egos that don't want to finish out a series. Some exceptions are out there who I've stayed aligned with but it's very few.

Yes it's obvious Ron had no control this time in blowing the stake money. He was an up and comer with all of this, but there's no recovering from this kind of setback. Won't ever be trusted again and hope this post gets googled by anyone thinking of backing him.

I personally feel he blew most of the money somehow even before getting to Montreal and was trying to chase back out of the hole. It had to all set in that he lost a golden chance and was desperate to still compete. He claimed he was trying to win money in cash games to help cover his overhead, and it couldn't have backfired any worse.

As for bobbywaves, I hadn't heard about that situation. Still remember all the good times with him and "Ms. Waves" at the Bash in Punta Cana. He was big time there and we even ended up on the same plane going back to Philly.

Sure I wagered at 18th hole sportsbook, never said I didn't. I praised them while I was being paid & publicly bashed them when I was stiffed. BetIslands was good too, until they stopped paying. You can't predict when a book will go bad. It's the player's responsibility to calculate their own risk/reward level & decide if it's worth depositing. For me, it was well worth playing at 18th. I made at least 5x the amount eventually stolen from me.

But to call me an employee/manager at 18th responsible for funds being stolen from players, is simply a lie made up by you & others. I encouraged anyone who made the allegation to prove it, obviously nobody could. Everyone who played there had the name of their contact (Leo), which obviously doesn't match my name. When someone says a gift is a gift and you have no proof to the contrary, there's really no argument to me made. Haha trip! had the flu right after the bash and literally could not keep anything solid down for almost 3 weeks (25lbs). During the winter months I typically put a few lbs on because I'm obviously not as active, this past winter I must have really been living good! Eating healthier and the 10000-15000 steps per day at work have taken off the rest.....still working on it though....
