The better of the 2 that can actually win. Why waste a vote ????
I think that's why lobbyists/media will always make the investment. Just like the stock market and home values they know it's based on perception. The internet and old media watchers dying off is slowly changing that.

He sure does. He is trending significantly upwards while most of the other candidates are trending down. He just won the North Carolina Straw Poll. He won the San Diego straw poll. The California straw poll. The Illinois straw poll and a few others as well.
Among the polls out tonight on who won the cnn national security debate he is winning at an overwhelming 90%+!!!

Yes Ron Paul is a wonderful family man who is a libertarian, but has no clue on foreign policy.
He thinks he can makes friends with Iran. That is like making friends with the judge after you
committed a crime.

Wow. You are highly ignorant. The United States had a good working relationship with these same countries that are now causing us a lot of problems in the first half of the 20th century. Why didn't they attack us then?
Because we didn't interfere in their internal affairs like we do now.
Ron Paul is right. If we used diplomacy instead of force and threats we would get a lot more achieved.

If Newt Gingrich has a chance, then Ron Paul has a chance. He needs to go balls to the wall to win Iowa and then ride the wave of momentum and publicity. Iowa is an absolute must win. New Hampshire seems like a more natural fit, but I don't think he can win there without picking up momentum from a win.

It's a sad state when finding a candidate, with morals and the peoples best interests at heart, is an anomaly. I don't think the powers that be will 'allow' Ron Paul to be elected. Call me cynical, but I'm not sure our votes even count anymore. The results of a presidential election could easily be manipulated. Seems to me that the whole left wing/right wing debate is a facade to entertain the masses and divert their attention away from the manner in which things are truly ran. Much like a WWE atmosphere.
The US is not meant to be ran exclusively by multi-millionaires who are bored with life and seeking more power/money. It is meant to be ran by the everyday man. The gov should be riddled with engineers, doctors, teachers, small business owners, etc.. That's not possible because things are skewed towards the uber wealthy. People who don't even have the ability to relate to the average American citizen. People who look down their noses at the average American citizen. This country doesn't belong to the people anymore, it belongs to them. They essentially own us.

The only thing that worries me about electing Ron Paul is the country entering a dead lock. Most of his party doesn't agree with his opinions.

I'm still trying to figure out how Ron Paul would get elected.
He repeatedly talks about all these bases around the world with US troops and how much it costs.
So he'll close or shutter bases and then do what with these soldiers? If he cuts troop levels, he'll lose the support of the patriotic military folks. If he brings them home but doesn't cut them - how much does that really save?
His comments on "crony capitalism" struck fear in a lot of big money bankers. Doesn't take much for them to shift money into a Super-PAC and suddenly Joe Shlub is watching commercials focussing on how RP took money from a known White Power/Neo Nazi in 2007 and wouldn't give it back.
He's anti-union...so you can forget any support from the big unions...he's anti-welfare/social programs, so you can kiss goodbye any low income or student support once they get wind of what his actual policies would mean towards entitlements or the cost of schooling etc. He was labelled as "anti-senior" by the ARA - so that might squash the seniors vote.
I'm not saying he's wrong, I'm just wondering if everything (media & other candidates) were focussed on him (like it has been for Bachmann, Perry, Romney etc) whether his candidacy would stand up.

Nice insightful view of flawed politics. Yeah, what big money or big finance bigwigs are for Paul?
Also, BETFAIR has Paul at 17 to 1? Damn, we Paul patriots should all pool our money together and make a monster bet on Paul.
Any takers?

If I could interject a few points here as the gentlemen raises some valid points I would be most appreciative.
First, Ron Paul would bring all troops home so they would be here. There is no chance of him losing military support as Ron Paul has currently raised more money from the members of the military than all other republican candidates combined and more than even Obama.
In fact, Ron Paul's 3 biggest donors are from the members of the Unites States Army, Air Force, and Navy.
The money saved from cutting needless military expenditures and ending these undeclared and unconstitutional wars would far exceed the cost of bringing them home and say, putting them on our border with Mexico.
Secondly, anybody contributing money to a Super-PAC and trying to smear Ron Paul, or any other candidate for that matter could be easily traced and gotten back to. It wouldn't take much for Paul to address the matter directly.
Third, he's anti-union in the sense that he believes things like the minimum wage actually hurt small business owners. That being said, if his economic ideas were implemented should he get elected, it would actually help unions in the long run.
First, by freeing business from over-taxation and burdensome regulations, it would free the economy and that would lead to more businesses being created and thus more labor jobs which put unions to work.
Secondly, the people who are in the unions would be less taxed themselves so they would be able to keep more of what they earn since Paul plans to eliminate the federal income tax and, eventually, the IRS.
Finally, his candidacy would stand up to anyone's because he has not changed one position since he's been in office. Over 30 years now.
If you're talking about honesty, integrity, Constitution first, morally, there is no one you can find who is better across the entire political spectrum.
If he gains momentum like he's been doing recently and wins Iowa and/or New Hampshire, it's the other candidates that need to worry.

.
I know he out-raised other candidates from military (or those considered "employed" by the military) but the numbers are pretty minuscule aren't they?
Do you have a link showing his 3 bigger donors were military?
I'm basing my numbers on sites like this (I searched "candidates donars military")
