Bodog just received their UK license which is a very big deal for them and very expensive. They also just bought advertising on an English Premier team....also a very big investment. Bodog wants to be a global brand and get more deals done.
It's very difficult for Bodog to be under attack in the US and still be on the front of Lionel Messi's jersey. There will be a new url but will be the same software, CS, mgt....Think Bookmaker and the CRIS brand.

Instead of BoDog leaving the market the market should leave BoDog. Never liked that book.
Bodog Brand is allowing it's licencing deal with Morris Mohawk Gaming to expire. Thus the Bodog Brand will no longer be in the US market.

I love how I just "renewed" my PRO status through those guys.
Guess it's time to take the money out of there, and just play with 5 Dimes (which I'd prefer anyways)

Gateser-
At the very least, this gave you the opportunity to remain an SBR Pro. And I think we both know you can't really put a price on all that brings you!
Congrats, pal.

This one actually didn't surprise me that much. That UK licence is so valuable it's not worth it to deal with the hassle of the US government any more. Curious to see what kind of book Mohawk opens in Bodog's place. If they do, that is.

like i said its all a fukkin guess
people came back at me saying oh no these are safe and wrote a list...especially bodog saying they are set in the US Market.
lets put it this when, when Bookmaker is off the SBR sponsor list, the greek and betjam leaves..no fukkin book is here to stay.
And this is yet another chance for sbr to listen to my advice and get in the fantasy sports market

Hahaha wow. I know it was logical to think that Bodog would join the parade of books leaving, but after those Calvin interviews I really didn't think they would be going anywhere. I'm curious how a book like Bodog can survive without American dollars? Surely there are much better outs for people outside of the US.

Well they're not leaving until the end of '11 so unless you've bet on the Super Bowl Champ next year, you should be ok

BoDog does not need usa players anymore, another book that really knew how to get out into Europe and market well

That's exactly what I happened to have a bet on.
And NCAA Champ.
Sitting in chat now. They decided to give me a new last name. This is taking forever. Just trying to get them to cancel the bets. Apparently it isn't as easy as I thought this would be.

They have the Bodog88 casino in Asia which from what I've read is quite huge and have started to offer UK horse racing pool betting there a few months ago. Plus now with that UK licence, I guess they're assuming Bodog UK will blow up too. Back when they announced that they got the UK licence I spent a couple of hours reading up on them and was surprised at how much Bodog actually has going on. I didn't think of them as much more than just the sportsbooks to be honest. They've even got BodogCoffee now

Spread it around guys, don't put all your eggs in one basket. There's still some places under the radar that are safe but by all means don't have more anywhere than you can afford to lose.

Oh no Gates, I was joking - I didn't think you'd actually have the Super Bowl bet! Cancelling it now is the only fair thing to do in my opinion since it's not like there's anyone to transfer it to at this point. Hopefully they sort it out for you quickly.

this is comical.
<table style="position:relative;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td class="tdtext">Jay J.: Upon checking Mr. Shari91. I know that you are concerned about the changes that will happen in the future.
07:42 :
Jay J.: The only change that will occur would be a change in the brand but other than that the wagers you placed such as the Futures will not be affected.
07:43 :
Jay J.: You will still have the same channels offered together with the same deposit and payout options.
07:43 :
Shari91: Being in the U.S?
07:43 :
Jay J.: Yes Sir that is correct.
07:43 :
Shari91: I have read on SBR Forum, you will not be available to the U.S. bettors
07:43 :
Jay J.: Only the brand name will have a change.
07:44 :
Shari91: 100% sure on that?
07:44 :
Jay J.: You will still have your account active. I am very much sure Sir.
07:44 :
Shari91: So you guys won't cancel those bets for me?
07:45 :
Jay J.: No Mr. Shari91. These wagers will still be good.
Surely it would just transfer to the new brand operated by Mohawk. It sounds like the end-of-year is a rebranding rather than a 'closure' in the sense people here seem to be reading it as.

Rebranding is worse than closing....... when sportsbook .com came under new ownership after UIGEA was passed it went in the toilet. when a half dozen large names in the offshore world close up shop over 2 years what hope do the little shops have? Find that local or other gambling outlet now because the fat lady is starting to sing.
