#37The real measuring stick of where our country is headed will be seen in June, July, and August. QE2 ends in June, so the market won't be propped up anymore. If the market can hold fairly steady, that means investors are pretty confident in our economy. If it tanks, we could be in some big trouble. Obviously this isn't the only measure for our economy's strength, but it is probably the next big event to measure itComment -

#38The young generation will have no family money like years ago
These later generations are blowing everything and not saving like their parents did and also in heavy debt therefore there kids will not get perks or help.
It is going to be real bad down the road
I would advise no one to have kids as you will really struggleComment -

Don't listen to any of this bullsh*t on here, guys. Not everyone is destined to go through life being an unhappy jerkoff.
Only selfish assholes encourage others not to experience having a child. Its the single greatest thing anyone can ever do. Not saying its without frustration and difficulties, but 100% worth it in every way.
**This thread should also reinforce how important it is to take care of one's teeth. Proper dental hygiene while growing up has been proven to lessen the odds of you turning into a miserable bald, snaggletoothed prick by your early 40's.Comment -

#54I'll clarify.....if you are physically & mentally able to have a child, but simply choose not to for selfish reasons, I personally think you are making a huge mistake.
I say this from experience. I had no interest in kids for the first 37 years of my life, including 10 years of marriage. I didn't see the upside. There wasn't a bigger selfish prikk than myself.
For me, at least, it has been the only true joy I have ever known. Not saying its never a pain in the ass, expensive, and frustrating. It is! But, at the end of the day, its absolutely what lifes all about.Comment -

#55Its not trust me everybody should do what makes them happy! if thats having 5 kids so be it. Im 29 and damn happy to not have kids.... damn happy if i want to have kids i can pick up my 3 brothers kids or my girls sisters kids and take them to movies or disneyland or whatever but having to have a lil version of me or my girl to fulfill my life isnt something i feel i need to do. Alot of Ego at play with kids trust me if i had a dollar for everytime i dated a chick and she said " we would have cute kids" keep in mind im in my 20s so these young chicks think like that. Im real enough or mature enough to know i really really want to travel more and do things like watch ufcs at a bar and get pissy drunk and pull a road trip to vegas... I know about 10 couples who have kids and 12 single parents i've seen them all miserable yelling at the kids at some point. I could go on kids are expensive, im asked to babysit from time to time unreal how tired i am end of those days. Just not ready yet maybe one day 50 is the new 40 they say we'll see ... doubtful but maybeComment -

People may grumble about the cost of gas ... but nobody is willing to change anything ... personally i'm doing great - got rid of my small car and upgraded to an SUV a few months ago .. my home value is up, my 401k is up, my gold/silver investments are up, companies are crying out for workers ...
If you look out of your window and things really look that bad .. maybe you need to pack up and move to somewhere that the sun is shining and life feels good.Comment -

#61There is shit-loads of money out there ... Casino's here in town are packed solid every single night ... people queue for 30-40 mins for a table in restaurants ... 80% of vehicles on the road here are Trucks/SUV's ... almost every TV sold is a 50" + model ... if people are hurting .. they sure as shit ain't hurting bad enough yet ...

2. I agree with you and did the same thing you say you're interested in: I travelled the world, lived a very crazy and blessed life thanks to my career, my biggest concern was what nail polish I needed to ask the lady for when I went for a manicure. For over 10yrs of my life before I chose to have a child.
I think in an ideal world, if people wait to have kids (or choose not to) until after they've got whatever out of their system then the child is better off for it. No resentment, no regrets. However the cookie doesn't always crumble that way so it's important we have compassion for others who may have taken a different path from us as well.
As for the main topic of the thread: The Aussie $ is at an all time high against the USD. 1.08. I'm a US citizen, not an Aussie one. The fact that the US is getting pummelled by such a tiny country that most Americans consider insignificant is embarrassing for those of you who scream hard about the US being the greatest country on the planet. Time to sort your shit out. Stop complaining about government and figure out what you can do to change it. If not, you'll just continue to take it up the ass like JJ x 10. The Southern Hemisphere isn't going away and it's kicking your ass big time. Leave it too long and there'll be no hope of even competing, let alone recoveryComment -

#68Having kids is the biggest mistake a man can make in todays world unless you make over $300,000 a year which in turn takes some pressures off , money does help when you have a few kids and actually gives you much more freedom even though you could still be miserable. If you are low or middle class and you have kids you are making a huge mistake.Comment -
