Players must wager a minimum of $30,000 over the course of the conference tournaments to be prize-eligible.
????
You only get 10 k so 30 k might not be possible

In other words, this Sunday.
So Contest lasts 6 days.

Sure you can, one option is to put 6K per day in play each day without too many huge individual bets.

Of course it's possible. The people in contention for the prize will need to be winning a lot anyway, so 30k rollover shouldn't be an issue.
Obviously you might lose your 10k without even hitting 20k in action, but there are many others who will, I can assure you.

RebateWager Exchange: $1,000 Beta Contest All contestants must register at X-Markets Exchange using promotion code SBR. Posters must have a RebateWager account to win prizes. Open one here to be prize-eligible. This free contest is designed to assist in beta testing X-Markets Exchange trading software. SBRforum posters with valid exchange accounts as of 11:59PM EST on Monday, March 7th will be prize-eligible. How to play
At approximately 12:15AM EST on Tuesday, March 8th all player balances will be reset to $10,000, and all orders and fills deleted. At this point, the contest will begin.
Players may wager in all posted markets, markets will include NCAA Basketball conference tournaments.
Players must wager a minimum of $30,000 over the course of the conference tournaments to be prize-eligible. The top 3 balance holders who satisfy this requirement will be declared the winners at the conclusion of the NCAA conference tournaments.
Seems like a valid question. My take was that you can only bet on NCAA games. Ganchrow/Lou, can you verify this?

The first half of that sentence should mean all markets are fair game.

So, you don't have to sell, you can just buy, which is basically regular betting that we do at normal sites. On the other hand, you can sell if you got at a good price to someone that can not get at as good of a price, then collect profit from sale and have more cash to make the bets you really want to make? Do I have the concept?

In & I open the exchange launches for real some day soon. Would be nice to have a replacement for matchbook.
Rules clarification request: If you buy and sell the same game before its over, does this count as money risked or not?

Ganchrow -- this is great news! I was a relatively large player at Matchbook, and will happily support your new venture (just as soon as MB sends me my money!). Do you plan to have lots of "in-game" wagering once the site goes live?
Best of luck with the new exchange, Ganchrow!
And for all you former US Matchbook players, get your @sses in to this new exchange ASAP! The quicker we all start playing there, the quicker there will be good liquidity, and the quicker we can get over what happened last week!

Also, since I just signed up for both Rebatewager and the exchange, how will I know if I've been entered into the contest? Will I receive an email letting me know that I'm in? (so far, I have not). I'm really looking forward to testing out the site during this beta contest that starts in just over an hour!

You're all set with the contest, Fish.
Thanks for the well wishes.
Obviously a necessary precondition for launching the exchange "for-real" is having it all beta tested with kinks worked out.
Hence this contest and the larger one we'll be sponsoring for the Big Dance.
And yes, we will be offering in-game wagering. We're going to be quite liberal in our determination of which markets to post. And if a player wants a particular market posted he'll just need to ask.

Ganch, can you offer any insight as to what commission structure you are looking at once this goes live? I'm really looking forward to this and hope it becomes a huge success.

Yes ... although I'll only count the opening trade and will omit any trades you make with yourself.
Basically, a contest rollover requirement is pretty difficult to enforce in any fair and meaningful manner within an exchange environment (even more so given that we're offering in-game betting).
Now that said I will be keeping an eye out for signs of collusion. I'm going to very suspect of trades made in illiquid markets at clearly erroneous prices when the sell order has only been live for a short period of time.
