Panthers vs. Oilers picks for Game 1

Score prediction: Oilers 3, Panthers 2

✅ Against the spread pick: Panthers +1.5 (-210 via Caesars) ⭐⭐
✅ Moneyline pick: Oilers (-130 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
    ✅ Over/Under pick: Under 6.5 goals (-125 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

✅ Best bet: Oilers ML (-130 via BetMGM)

Goalscorer Props for Panthers vs. Oilers Game 1

    Connor McDavid ⭐⭐⭐

I'm backing the legend to make his mark on the final early. This series means everything to McDavid and his legacy. And I have no doubt he'll be at his best, which is a terrifying prospect for any team, including the Panthers. McDavid scored three goals in last season's Stanley Cup Final. A winning $10 bet will profit $15.

    Best odds: +150 via FanDuel

    Carter Verhaeghe ⭐⭐⭐

Scoring in three straight games against the Oilers, Verhaeghe loves playing McDavid and Co. He has six goals in these playoffs, including the series winner against the Carolina Hurricanes. He also lit the lamp twice in last year's Stanley Cup Final. A winning $10 bet will profit $26.50.

    Best odds: +265 via DraftKings

The Edmonton Oilers got off to the start they envisioned as Gary Pearson previews Friday's Game 2, offering goalscorer picks and a game prediction.

Panthers vs. Oilers Game 2 prediction and goalscorer picks

✅ Against the spread pick: Panthers +1.5 (-215 via Caesars) ⭐⭐
            ✅ Moneyline pick: Oilers (-125 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐
            ✅ Over/Under pick: Under 6 goals (+100 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐

Best goalscorer props for Panthers vs. Oilers Game 2

            Corey Perry ⭐⭐⭐

Perry scored in Games 4 and 5 against the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final and looked as dangerous, if not more so, in Game 1 against the Cats. He was an omnipresent force, throwing his body around with reckless abandon.

He had a few threatening opportunities and came close to capitalizing on one of them. With the increased ice time alongside McDavid, I wouldn't be surprised to see the ageless wonder light the lamp for an eighth time these playoffs.

            Best odds: +260 via DraftKings

            Connor McDavid ⭐⭐⭐

I'm going back to the well after backing McDavid to score in the opener. He created bundles of chances and came within an inch of lifting it over Sergei Bobrovsky's shoulder on a crafty backhander. He had four shots on goal to go along with his two helpers, and I expect McDavid to light the lamp before the Oilers head to Sunrise, Fla.

            Best odds: +150 via DraftKings

Awesome comeback by Oilers in Game One. A few basic thoughts:
              1) I do put some stock in the Canadian team motivation. Been a long time. They're hungry.
              2) The Game One winner stat is something like 77% all-time. Win g1, you win the Cup 77% of time. Granted, that's just conditional probability. And some of those years the powerhouse teams were too strong.
              3) This is a more balanced matchup. Florida is probably a LITTLE bit better.
              4) These long-travel series sometimes become Homer series. Home team went 7-0 in the NJ/ANA series in 2003.
              5) All that said, FLA is almost +200 to win the series. Juicy price. Food for thought.

Yeah, scoring talent aplenty. In the overtime the announcers kept talking about how bad the ice gets late in the game.

SBR's Gary Pearson writes Two consecutive overtime games highlight the fine margin in the Stanley Cup Final as we dive into our prediction and goalscorer picks for today's Game 3 in Sunrise, Fla.

Score prediction: Oilers 3, Panthers 2

At some point, things will get much tighter defensively. The million-dollar question is when? I'm betting things get much tighter in today's Game 3, with the Panthers struggling for offense while playing solid defensive hockey recently at Amerant Bank Arena.

Paul Maurice's team allowed seven goals at home in the previous four games, allowing two or fewer twice (three if you exclude Carolina's empty-net goal in Game 4 of the ECF). They're scoring 2.57 goals per game while allowing the same in these playoffs at home.

Meanwhile, the Oilers kept two shutouts in the previous four away games and were on track for another defensive gem against the Dallas Stars in Game 1 of the WCF before getting into penalty trouble, which cost them three rapid-fire goals.

The Oilers have allowed just 2.29 goals per game in enemy contests since getting shelled in Los Angeles in the first two playoff games.

In addition, the Oilers can ill-afford a continuation of the offensive slugfest seen in Games 1 and 2 against one of the world's best netminders.

✅ Best bet: Under 6.5 goals (-115 via BetMGM)

Best goalscorer props for Oilers vs. Panthers Game 3

                      Leon Draisaitl ⭐⭐⭐

Draisaitl is on an eight-game point streak and has netted in three of the previous four, including both games in Edmonton to open the final.

He's scored five times in a four-game goal-scoring streak against the Panthers and is healthy, unlike last year's final. Draisaitl has 10 goals in these playoffs, five of which on enemy terrain. Only Sam Bennett has more road goals.

                      A winning $10 bet at bet365 would profit $12.50.

                      Best odds: +125 via bet365

                      Brad Marchand ⭐⭐⭐

In Marchand, I'm going with the hot hand. The elder statesman put the Panthers on his back in Game 2, becoming the first player to score a shorthanded goal and an overtime winner in the same Stanley Cup Final game.

He was just as good in Game 1, too, with the Mighty Mouse, or the wretched rat, depending on what side of the fence you sit, taking matters into his own hands.

No other Panther has stood out on home ice, so Marchand represents a high-value pick, especially with his current accentuated swagger. A winning $10 bet at DraftKings would profit $28.50.

                      Best odds: +285 via DraftKings

Was Game 3 an anomalous performance from the Edmonton Oilers? Can they even the series in Game 4?

                                SBR's Gary Pearson tips;

✅ Who will win Oilers vs. Panthers: Oilers (+125 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐
✅ Best prop bet: Under 6.5 (-120 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐

                                Oilers vs. Panthers best bet

                                Oilers ML
                                • Best odds: +125 via BetMGM (bet $10 to win $12.50 profit)
                                • Implied win probability: 44.44%

That was an unmitigated abomination for the Oilers, who endured their worst postseason outing by a country mile, even worse than the 6-2 loss in Los Angeles.

It was bound to happen considering the otherworldly run they've been on since those opening two games against the Kings, but I expect the exact opposite from what we saw in Game 3.

They will tighten things up, play with way more discipline, and enjoy a markedly better start. The Oilers can ill afford to go down 3-1, and they'll be acutely aware of that after digging themselves a hole too deep in last season's final.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were both kept off the scoresheet in Game 3, something that hasn't occurred all playoffs, which should add more fuel to the comeback fire.

My best anytime goal-scorer bet for Game 4 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final:

                                      Evan Bouchard
                                      • Best odds: +450 via DraftKings (bet $10 to win $45 profit)
                                      • Implied win probability: 18.18%

Remarkably, Bouchard has fired 22 shots on Bobrovsky in three games, more than he mustered in the previous 12. If you think his 22 shots on goal are staggering, feast your eyes on his 31 shot attempts, equating to 10.3 per game.

A fairly high percentage of those shots were good looks, and some came within inches of bulging the twine.

One shot in particular hit Bobrovsky's shoulder without the Panthers' ace knowing anything about it. That's what excellent positioning gets you. With a bit more puck luck, Bouchard will score his second goal of the series, and the +450 odds offer ample reason to lock it in. Those odds are only available at DraftKings and bet365.

Here is the latest betting action and odds movement for Game 4, via BetMGM:

Moneyline: The Panthers were dealing as +110 underdogs before a run of money on the hosts, who are now -150 to win the game. Florida has drawn 67% of bets on the moneyline at BetMGM.

O/U: The total sits at 6.5 with the Under juiced at -125, even with nearly two-thirds of bettors backing the Over ahead of Game 4.

                                        Corey Perry Over 0.5 points
                                        • Best odds: +118 via FanDuel (bet $10 to win $11.80 profit)
                                        • Implied win probability: 45.87%

Scorey Perry provided his best Hulk impersonation in Game 3 against the Cats. While it manifested more like a panicked pussy cat, Perry has logged more experience in these situations than the Dalai Lama in spiritual teachings.

I expect Perry to harness that unadulterated anger, using it as motivation to hit the Panthers where it actually hurts.

Perry has been markedly more productive since Zach Hyman's injury. He's playing alongside Connor McDavid now, so his effectiveness is about as surprising as Matthew Tkachuk agitating the Oilers.

The veteran is on a five-game point streak, tallying six in that span.

Oilers beamed Captain Pickard into the game and he’s not giving up a goal. Whole new game now as it’s tied up at 3 and into 3rd Period we go.

Edmonton should have closed that. They cleared that puck out very poorly the last minute. You get it down the ice and it’s 10 seconds gone. Just wow.
