Skip told Shannon today that he didn't delete the tweet because he stands by it.

Skip is a loud mouth but I’m struggling with what is wrong with his tweet? Free speech? He gets paid for an opinion. He only said what everyone was thinking… beyond the obvious health of Hamlin

twitter groupthink is changing... letting conservatives back in, not banning every post that the far left disagrees with, and removing some of the bots was a big plus

My best guess as a physician is that he had clots (thrombosis) and/or pulmonary emboli, which is why we haven't heard much from the local doctors. That obviously implicates the clot shot to others all the more, making it hard to deny that in fact, the jab was the instigator.

We haven't heard much from the local doctors because they are still treating him and it's a private family matter.

They're not going to go out there right now guessing as to what happened, like you want to do.

There are some things I don't have to guess about. A confirmation is that the wikipedia page has now been edited like 5+ times on the topic of "commotio cordis". I wonder why.

While it makes some sense to delay the playoff (wild card) weekend, I've thought from the day after that they'd scrap the game entirely. I believe currently they are secretly hoping for a KC loss to LV and a Bills win, with a Bengals win. That pretty much makes it so there is no change in what was "going to happen", with one exception: at 13-4 the Bengals then might have gotten screwed out of home field for both the first game, and possibly the AFC overall #1. Out of curiosity, I wonder what the tiebreaker is if all teams finish with the same record, 3 team tie, if Cinci beating Buffalo and KC ... would they have gotten the overall #1? It appears yes.

It looks like that won't happen, so it seems that the team that gets screwed the most with the cancel is Cinci, since they can't get the 1 seed if that happens.

Probably because it has received sudden attention due to this incident. How you think that is confirmation of your guess is amazing.

because the term has not been in the news recently and as far back as i can remember.

the crazy part is that it happens about 15-20 times a year mostly to baseball players between the ages of 8 and 18 but we literally never hear about it.

game cancelled now neither team can get the one seed. GOOD hope they both lose their 1st playoff game or if they meet in the afc championship game they'll be afraid to touch each other & cancel the game & the NFC WINS by default F-K the bengays & billiebabies

I would say "seek professional help", but it won't help. Every team in the NFL would have responded the same way, so you're gonna have to hope they all lose.

Background— Sudden deaths in young competitive athletes are highly visible events with substantial impact on the physician and lay communities. However, the magnitude of this public health issue has become a source of controversy.

Methods and Results— To estimate the absolute number of sudden deaths in US competitive athletes, we have assembled a large registry over a 27-year period using systematic identification and tracking strategies. A total of 1866 athletes who died suddenly (or survived cardiac arrest), 19±6 years of age, were identified throughout the United States from 1980 to 2006 in 38 diverse sports. Reports were less common during 1980 to 1993 (576 [31%]) than during 1994 to 2006 (1290 [69%], P<0.001) and increased at a rate of 6% per year. Sudden deaths were predominantly due to cardiovascular disease (1049 [56%]), but causes also included blunt trauma that caused structural damage (416 [22%]), commotio cordis (65 [3%]), and heat stroke (46 [2%]). Among the 1049 cardiovascular deaths, the highest number of events in a single year was 76 (2005 and 2006), with an average of 66 deaths per year (range 50 to 76) over the last 6 years; 29% occurred in blacks, 54% in high school students, and 82% with physical exertion during competition/training, whereas only 11% occurred in females (although this increased with time; P=0.023). The most common cardiovascular causes were hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (36%) and congenital coronary artery anomalies (17%).
