#110James Holzhauer Is Less Than $60,000 Away From Breaking Ken Jennings’ ‘Jeopardy!’ Record
Friday’s episode of “Jeopardy!” gave whiz kid James Holzhauer his 32nd consecutive win, bringing him that much closer to breaking Ken Jennings’ all-time record of highest winnings in regular season play. As it stands, Holzhauer is only $58,484 away from matching Jennings’ 2004 record of $2,520,700.
Holzhauer brought his total winnings up to $2,462,216 by answering this question in Final Jeopardy: “It’s the last name of Alfred, Lionel, David, Emil, Thomas and Randy, who with 90 nominations are the most Oscar-nominated family.”
Holzhauer correctly answered: “What is Newman?”
At this point, it’s not so much a question of ifhe’ll beat Jennings, but when. Surpassing Jennings’ record on Monday’s episode shouldn’t be too difficult for Holzhauer. He currently holds the record for most single-game earnings with $131,127, so for him to win $58,000 in one game is entirely possible.
Here are some stats comparing the two biggest “Jeopardy!” champions in history. According to a video posted to Jeopardy.com last Friday, on average, Holzhauer’s responses have been 97% accurate, while Jennings’ were only 91% accurate. Over the 74 games Jennings played, his average daily winnings were $34,064 — as of Holzhauer’s first 31 games, his average daily winnings were $76,858. If Holzhauer beats Jennings’ record on Monday, it will have taken him 33 games — less than half the time it took Jennings.Comment -

#111Damn he still going huh? Usually I see a few upsides a week cause the old lady likes it but was kinda busy this past week.
Last few I saw he was just blasting mfers, had such a big lead he was able to risk a huge chunk on final jeopardy to increase his winnings without risking losing.. don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone win by the margins he is most days!!
I love his style but this run seems crazy as all it would take is him whiffing on 2 double jeopardy questions for him to be in trouble since he goes all in so often. I’ve seen him miss 1 of them a few times but practically every time I watch he gets to play all 3 of them since he always in control of the board! Never seen him miss 2 of those. Pretty damn impressive.
Even if he did miss on few of them I’d guess all that would do is finally make for a little drama for final jeopardy. Be cool if just once he had a chance to lose entering the final question! I don’t recall seeing that once. LolComment -

Actually, had she gotten the final jeopardy question wrong, he would’ve won. If he had significant $$$ down on himsef not to break the record, he wasn’t very smart in leaving it up to her getting the question right or wrong to make or break his wagerComment -

#124He didn't throw, had a solid show actually. But she caught both DD's in the DJ and hit them, even though she went low on the second. She added over 10k on those which was far more than her lead. Those were the difference easily. That's why it's so tough to never lose.
She had a great poker face at the end too. Hopefully she'll win a bunch.Comment -

My lady said the contestant who beat him was actually quicker on the buzzer than he was. That been a big part of his run too.
She happy he lost, I’m indifferent but did like his all in aggressive style!! What I didn’t like was how he always was all over the place on the board, if I’m playin along I tend to do much better when they start at beginning of a category and work way thru it, seems to help me get a little rhythm! #128I was curious how it happened. My old lady was all happy telling me he lost but she wasn’t very clear on details. I figured his downfall would be missing the all in daily doubles, suppose someone else getting them would do it too since that how he built almost all his leads.

#129She beat him to the buzzer sometimes. They only missed one question all show combined. It's not like he was off. I don't know the numbers but I think James answered more correctly. Her catching the DD's was his downfall. I think his only DD was the first very question of the show. Too soon, didnt help.
Kinda cool he just got beat and didn’t lose by missing the Dds like I suspected be the reason.Comment -

#130If she was quicker than him on the buzzer then she might make a nice little run herself.
Too bad she’s not a hottie.

#132Seems when someone upsets the Champion who had a run.... that contestant starts thinking ahead.... and they come out flat on the next show. Seen it happen a few times. She'll be out in 2 blinks.Comment -
