It's tough Shocka. I understand fully the stress. I bought BTC 3 years ago for practically nothing and sold like a dumbass because I was green and didn't understand it. I bought a couple dozen at $42 and sold half at $30 for a loss. I basically said the hell with it and focused on the stock market. I saw BTC go to $70 then bump to $400 then $800 and the rest is history. I bought ETH and LTC when they were both under $10. If I knew what I know now I would have hammered the shit out of it but you don't know what you don't know. Confused people do nothing and fear is real for most. This thread is helpful respite for most.

Ripple goes against the spirit of bitcoin and privacy IMO but that doesn't mean it doesn't have real world uses. A lot of established people and institutions want Ripple to succeed, which tells me that it will. I originally had Ripple pegged from $4 - $5 but the charts look more like $7 - $8. I'm buying back in shortly. It may still show up on CB next weekend. I love ADA too.

In China when they banned the exchanges from trading, people were still allowed to OTC trade in China as well as buy from foreign exchanges. South Korea hasn't made anything official yet. Hopefully they will just regulate the exchanges in South Korea.

If exchanges are banned from trading in South Korea, the owners will set up shop in a friendly country. As long as South Korean citizens aren't banned from trading cryptocurrencies, there won't be a long term affect. We have already seen this in China.

I don't understand how Ripple can go from 1.67 to 2.21 in 15 minutes.
It almost seems manipulated. A coordinated buy by the whales to inflate the price, then they sell off gradually thru the day.

I really don't see any way in hell that the US government can ban crypto.
First off, crypto is worldwide, no government can shut it down. But they can throw obstacles in their citizens way. Reminds me of the U.S. government's attempt to shut off offshore gambling to U.S, citizens. They failed, but managed to make it a pain in the ass getting funds there.
Their biggest weapon will likely be the IRS. They will come hard at their citizens. Mac's mentioned he has no interest in paying taxes on crypto, Shocka implies that he does. I started another thread concerning the IRS and would welcome other peoples thoughts on this issue.

Great post!
As soon as CNBC started tracking Crypto I knew it was in trouble. The whole point of BTC was to have an untraceable currency to move money around the world without bank or IRS interference. Now, you have to pay ridiculous fees, in and out, and report profits to the Feds. Annoying to say the least.

Not in trouble in terms of money. In trouble in terms of the IRS and governments wanting to regulate or ban it.

one country and from what I've read (shocking, I know) its was more of an unexpected visit and the "ban" was basically a cease and desist type action to halt things while they investigate a particular money laundering that was done over the exchange. All sides are compliant with one another and seem to be working forward from this. Not permanent, just temporary slap of the wrist to be able to do their due diligence to operating it legally in the future. If you look at their own press release, they themselves have said that nothing has been finalized.

Yeah, I am speaking in generalities. I miss the days of watching a BTC transfer take minutes to my book without a wild fluctuation and not having to worry about the IRS. That is all, I was trying to say. I'm a fan of Crypto.

I hear what you're saying. Obviously were all excited to be making lots of $$$. That being said it was nice before the exchanges got overloaded with clients and the media was constantly reporting on bitcoin either skyrocketing or plummeting.

Exactly, once I started hearing neighbors talk about it, I knew it was a matter of time before the exchanges would get overwhelmed.

BTC/BCH/ETH/LTC
14,400/2600/740/245
The price of the Big 4 right now:
BTC/BCH/ETH/LTC
13,845/2562/1225/237
No particular point... just a curiosity...

I'll pay taxes if I have to but I'm looking at ways to dump the coins in a Roth, 401k, trust what have you first. There's usually a loop hole somewhere down the line when there's a lot of money. There are ways to

Guys serious question
Lets say you buy $500 worth of ETH from Coinbase. Transfer it to Binance and buy Ripple using ETH. Then you make $500 from the trade because the price of Ripple went up on the exchange. However, you are holding long term on the exchange and not withdrawing to fiat. Do you have to claim capital gains at tax season? Figuring out what you have to claim is confusing. I though

Just put it on your patented 500-1 favorites that always somehow lose then you won't have to worry about it
