You and I see this situation differently brooks. Your coming at it from a small business owner mentality. You may not understand the perspective of the airlines and if you don't fly a ton it makes sense you don't. They offered $800. At that point the compensation due him for involuntary booting cost the airline less than further delaying the flight and trying to offer $1,000. It's a business decision and normally doesn't result in a situation like this. That said, The second he acted like he did he was getting booted for sure. Had to. Can't have a passenger act like that on a plane as you can see from the other videos. Captain wanted him off even if they didn't need the seat. United deals with 400,000 passengers a day. Your gonna piss some off but you have to have these types of thing happen to service the 399,999 you don't want to piss off daily.
You can say I couldn't be in customer service, but you may not fully get the entirety of the situation which I do. In your world - how should they have handled it? Don't say don't let them board - we all agree that's the easiest solution. But the situation I want your take on is you have a full plane and need 4 seats. What do you do??
