Interestingly enough, gas prices from Bush to Obama decreased by roughly the factor that innocent people killed by drones increased over that period. If we take the same correlation-means-causation approach, does that mean we should increase the killing of women and children to get oil prices lower?

Not off at all; you vote for Clinton or Trump, you're only voting for more of the same. A big factor why "he won't win" is because people tell themselves he won't and don't vote for him...maybe not enough other people make the sane choice, but if everyone gives up and votes for their preferred evil, good never wins. It's not like it's even close either...Clinton and Trump are so much worse, there's no excuse to not do the right thing.

one has nothing to do with the other. The shale producers went into business. The saudis tried to bury them. They were going very well until the iranians wouldn't play ball. Now saudi is so far behind on the money needed to pay for their social programs. Since interest was so low the oil and gas producers could borrow to stay in business. That is why with the price as stayed so low. I don't think oil will be back in 2017. I think the price in oil spike is that they are trying to cover the shorts.
