Just a little contribution to the FDR 90% tax rates and fight for income equality through taxation of the top earners....after all the deductions available back then you have to differentiate between earned income and taxable and other factors that kept paid rates down. And another thing people forget to me mention about how the economy thrived is that the world wars toppled our largest competitors so once you get they advantage of course you'll prosper.

#982just more nonsense from a self proclaimed intellectual who isn't very bright. I answered how I am going to answer. And if that infuriates you, that's just a bonus life provides.
I will go and research how much a billion now and I might ot might not get back you with what I discover.
I never proclaimed anything dwight, that is a simple lie.
The billion isn't important, what is important is you make a point and then when questioned about your belief you cannot defend it. Let me repeat the question one more time so you can ignore it one more time. Give one reason why the very rich should not pay more in taxes. Now the R can come up with a ton of bs answers but there is one real economic reason that can be argued. Since you believe nobody should be asked to pay more and you can't understand why anybody should be asked to pay more give one reason. Produce an economic or social reason why the very rich should not contribute more to the country that helped make them very rich.
You will not and cannot answer the question. You will call me a self proclaimed intellectual but I never made that claim so that is simply an outright lie. It is your way to confuse the issue, your way to get out of providing an answer because you have no answer. You get all pissed off when somebody questions your beliefs and that is because you cannot defend them. What is so difficult about defending your belief with an intelligent answer.Comment -

#983I'm not arguing who's smarter. You're clearly more intelligent than I am. That's why I try to keep my point simple. If you agree that a society is judged by how it treats it's less fortunate, why is there a problem if that has to be done at the expense of the top 1%?
they have no real answer to these type questions, they will answer with peripheral reasons but no real answer.
you know the conservatives do almost nothing right, they have won almost zero settled arguments. In fact, I know of only one and when I ask that question I get nothing from all of them. but you know what they do better than, much better than the D's. In fact, it isn't even a contest. they are able with great propaganda and great bs and great lies able to convince almost 50% of the population that the bs they sell is legit. they even are able to sell to the poor and some even very poor that the bs they sell is best for them. yeah they get people that live hand to mouth, people with very little education to buy into their shit. in short, they get people to vote against their own self interest. people right here on sbr, people I know just by their education level and their knowledge are living hand to mouth but still call themselves far right conservatives.
these same people when asked to defend their beliefs cannot. they will write all types of bs but they will not defend and cannot defend the bs that they get from the R party but they still believe it. you know you can't fix stupid.Comment -

how much more does anyone need to pay? the top 10% pay something like 70% of all the taxes in the entire country. Most of them would gladly even pay more but why would they when they see all the money the government is wasting? Its insane. Don't you see that?
Trump, Cruz and others are right. Lower the corporate tax bracket. Close the loopholes. Keep the businesses from moving to another country. Keep the good jobs in the country. More people will be working and paying taxes and less people will be living off the backs of those that pay taxes. The government is creating generations of government dependant people. Maybe that's their plan. Those are votes afterall.Comment -

#986Not sure about the loopholes, & can we really trust a government run by the rich to eliminate those loopholes.
Does it really make sense to tax people more that can not afford it, and to tax those that can afford it less. That.s what a flat tax will do.
So Joe Blow who makes 35k a year or less & just scraping by (which is more than half the country) would be paying more in tax's for a government that already works for the rich.
Mean while Joe Big Bucks gets a tax break again. This is fair to you.Comment -

They being said...those already pay the brunt of taxes anyway so how much us enough? And as Dwight mentioned earlier if you taxed them all 99% it would still fall short of all the wants of the people who want they to be the solution. The math is there. And it's basically a lost point because govt will spend as much as we'll let them take....last couple years they've taken in record amounts yet still can't figure it out. That's where the problem is.Comment -

why do you do that? well never mind answering that because you have no answer. but at least answer the original question. my god you have a slippery way of avoiding questions.

#989Yes, but if you look at the over all tax rate the US is near the bottom of most industrialized nations. That's why rich people want to live here & do business. But pay the tax rates of lesser industrialized nations by hiding money overseas. This does nothing but hurt the country. Why do you think our infrastructure is crumpling.Comment -

#990exactly.
The latest example a couple months ago. Pfizer.
The New York-based company’s official tax base will be moved from the US to Ireland, allowing it to take advantage of the Republic’s famous 12.5% corporate tax rate – rather than the top nominal rate of 35% in its home country

#993Yeah they are clowns, but the people in this country let them be clowns. There was just a study done that concluded if we went back to the FDR tax plan. We could pay off most of our national debt, not all of it, but a good part of it.

#995Yea the drillers have been just hanging on for most of last year. Started concentrating closer to HQ to cut costs and a bunch of them are about to go busto on some big loans. We adjusted last spring and have been supplying the pipeliners vs the drillers. Some of the smaller operations like Progressive and EESI are on sites in Oklahoma and Florida now so good for at least this year. Not as profitable but you know the rule...don't spend it all in the good times or else it'll be rough in the downturns.Comment -

#1011What is the fair share? Try to be specific and not just in general. Because you do realize that they pay the employees money who in turn pay taxes right? And yes I'm aware that most bonuses and salary can get given out in options to pay at later date but still.
But not to get off from the topic....what is a fair share from those people or companies ?Comment -

#1014why do you say stupid things like "That is the problem with you, you are a shallow thinker" and the wonder why I say you're a self proclaimed intellect? Listen dante, If you can't take the insults and then end up crying about it acting like some kind of victim of unfair personal attacks or accusations, then don't make insults to begin with. Its that simple. Don't engage me then. No one says you must.
And ya this an answer. my answer. You don't like it ... too fukking bad.
well, "self proclaimed" means that I said it, and I never said nor did I allude to it and just because you are a shallow thinker does not make me an intellect. And I am crying about nothing, I simply want to make a point here. Not more than a few days ago you implored me for a truce, I said I will think about it. Now today after your truce speak you tell an outright fcking lie about me. you see when you say self proclaimed that means I said it. And I did not, so yes you are a shallow thinker or a liar or both.
you can't go even a few days without peppering your bs with lies. the bs I can handle but the lies, I said it before dwight and I say it again you are the most dishonest person I have ever encountered. One day asking for a truce, next day outright lies. It is just fckin amazing.Comment -
