RLWC 2013 4-3 +2.7 units

If not for the Tongan game, we would be absolutely rolling, however I still believe it was the correct play in hindsight and regardless now must move forward. No time to dwell on the past, must focus on the future, some juicy matches coming up. They are very strong in Rugby Union, but relatively weak in Rugby League. NZ is excellent in both codes. The games are similar and yet very different, it can get confusing I know...

Why are the American Samoans getting 9.5 points? 5 nrl players in the squad. Ok those players are nothing special but they have them in key positions(Hooker,Half,Front Row and Backrow). Should be a close game.

USA v Wales
1.5* USA +9.5 (-109/$1.91 Sportingbet)
0.25* USA m/l (+248/$3.48 Pinnacle) *Definitely worth a small nibble at this price...

I thought the USA win over France was a freak event, however when they backed up with a second win over the Cook Islands I got to thinking, and realised just how much of a difference a handful of even B grade NRL players can make to these lower tier teams. Also the team is so stacked with Islanders that (as Sweepem pointed out) they are more American Samoa, than just America. This is definitely the strongest USA team ever seen at International level, although considering the previous completely amateur teams they have fielded that isn't actually that big of a call. Wales is traditionally one of the stronger 2nd tier Rugby League nations in the world, but one gets the feeling this is not one of their stronger teams that they are fielding this World Cup. Despite Wales having home ground advantage, a far more experienced team, better discipline and structure, there is clearly some points in this USA squad and while Wales are deserved favourites to win, it is quite likely to be a fairly close contest and I can see value in both the +9.5 and the under (which I have graded at 42-44 points). However it is too difficult to beat both the side and the total in the same game, so I am going to stay disciplined and stick with the points, which is the play I feel the strongest about.

Love the USA play here, whilst didn't get the chance to watch USA vs Cook Islands, i watched the Wales match against Italy. Wales really really lack NRL experience, their sole NRL player frizzell is young and is unable to bring much leadership to the team with his experience. The welsh pack seemed a bit disorganised and lacked much punch and they were prone to misreads in defence. Smelling an upset here with USA
