Scheduling change gets us a Dayton/VCU rematch tonight. Dayton 0.66 PPP worst offensive performance of the season in first meeting vs. VCU 3 weeks ago. Have to believe we see positive regression from that performance if they can handle the VCU pressure D effectively(definitely a concern) as well as get a better performance out of Jalen Crutcher. Interesting to note, Crutcher was absolutely neutralized in the first meeting and was held to under 5pts for just the 2nd time since Dec 2017 but has averaged 23ppg in his last 4 since that game. I think that Tshimanga, Amzil, and Nwokeji can effectively protect the paint with VCU looking to attack the rim. Probably not ideal getting in front of VCU right now but I think Dayton has a good shot to steal one as a home dog and creep up the a10 standings. Less relevant with a week of rest but VCU off comeback and game winner at Rhode Island and has Bonnies on deck. GL

I'd like to go back to the well with NCC today in the b2b, who I truly believe is much better than FAMU but the COVID hangover clearly wasn't over last night shown mainly by their 0.79 PPP offensive performance. Eagles had a late spark but just could not convert a few easy looks that could've gotten them back in the game. More importantly, I'm concerned about their conditioning on the 2nd leg , there were times in the 2h they were clearly gassedComment -
Somewhat interested in Kent State today in the rematch from 2 weeks ago off home loss vs. Akron. Although, Nuga now likely done for the season which is a huge loss. Bowling Green is completely lost and has dropped 5 in a row. Both teams played well offensively in first matchup (KSU 1.23 PPP, BGSU 1.17) but Pippen was just too dominate. BGSU actually faired well keeping Kent State off the offensive glass where they tend to be vulnerable. I think there may still be some hope in this BGSU team and they are bound to bounce back. Any thoughts on New Mexico @ Colorado St? New Mexico tried to quit the season last week and if I’m understanding it correctly, the league said no. Their mental state has got to be shredded. I’m big on CSU and my only real fear is that CSU takes pitty on them.Comment -

Is anybody surprised Mercer blew another 2H lead vs. Samford last night? It's like clockwork. That team is a bettor's nightmare and I'd love to be on the right side of one of their collapses by season end. Unfortunately Samford out of COVID shutdown prevented me from getting involved last night and I'll likely stay way again tomorrow. Samford had a real shot to win outright up 3 at the end of first OT but a ghost foul call on a Alvarez 3pt attempt to tie the game and send to 2OT. +9.5 on Monday was intriguing with Samford’s uptempo style of play but aspects of a covid hangover showed - 0.88 PPP, 3/20 from 3, and the best of them all, 27 turnovers. And with all that rust they still had a chance to win. Christian Guess also did not play last night (15ppg), so I’m curious of his status but again thats the new trend with personnel uncertainty out of shutdowns. Conditioning will continue to be a factor out of shutdowns, especially for fast paced teams like Samford on the 2nd leg. We'll see how they respond.Comment -
