$440 to win $400 on the Boston Celtics -1.5
I'm rolling with the Celtics tonight as -1.5 favorites in New Orleans. In the last meeting between these two, the Hornets prevailed 83-81 in a game where Boston was without Rondo and without Garnett. The hornets have been playing great since Paul returned from his concussion, winning quite a few close games, and surprisingly pushing the ball a little more than they're accustomed too. They're offense has been solid the past 5 or so games but they've also been giving up more points defensively which is a good sign for a Boston team that has struggled on the offensive end. Tonight is a perfect opportunity for the Celtics to regain the number 1 seed in the East, something they're clearly not overlooking after they saw how importnat how court advantage was last year for the Lakers. They still have an opportunity to finish with a better record than the lakers...
Boston is horrific on B2Bs this year but that stat is irrelevant tonight as Doc Rivers rested his starters the entire 4th quarter last night. I think Boston is not physically fatigued at all after last night's game against the rockets. Rondo has struggled mightily the past few games and thats a big reason why Boston has not been good offensively. All his numbers are down but Doc Rivers made it clear that Rondo is not playing hurt and he will be ready to go tonight.
Paul's penetration might cause some problems tonight and for his past few opponents but Rondo is one of the best pg's on the defensive end and him and Paul usually have some good head to head battles. Cp3 will have another pretty solid game and I think he should be able to get Okafur involved who has a big advantage tonight over Kristic. Ariza will be guarding Pierce tonight who did not have a good game last time against the Hornets. Ariza really took him out of his comfort zone but now with Rondo back I expect Boston to limit turnovers, something they did not do in the last matchup. The Celtics shot only 3-16 from 3 in the last outing. Tonight I expect Boston to return to their old self on the offensive end and execute efficiently. Garnett should be able to contain David West who had 19 points , 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in the last meeting. Boston was killed last night but Houston's speedy guards.
Usually I will discuss the bench's but I feel like this is a starters game. I think Green and Jared Jack should both contribute a bit but tonight I like Boston's starting 5 to come out on a mission after Doc's message last night.
