#5Amare is a great talent but still does not know how to tie his shoes. He needs a team of veterans. The suns should deal him to Boston.Comment -

#6very real, cavs beat writer said it won't be officially announced til tonight/tomorrow morning
I agree Shaq/Amare didn't look comfortable together last year, but the beat writer for the cavs made a good point...their total time on the court together in Cleveland would be 6-10 minutes a game with the way they rotate Shaq.Comment -

#7Hickson was starting to come into his own and Z played much better with Lebron than Shaq. Don't know how much this really helps the Cavs. They won 13 straight with the guys they were sendin out there recently. Why mess with that?Comment -

#8either way it still a great move for them...should keep Lebron around, whether him and shaq work well together makes them very tough, and you would think this is shaq's last year anywayComment -

#11great move by the cavs, making moves for a team that has won 13 straight games will be good for team chemistry. amare was so happy with shaq last year.Comment -

#15ESPN bottomline also said that the Cavs are making this trade b/c they think it'll make Lebron want to stay. I really don't think this will have too much of an impact on his decision.Comment -

this move is clearly being made to keep Lebron...even more so then trying to win this year as all they doing is fukkin up what is already almost the best team....so id say you crazy if this doesnt help keep him id guess this seals the dealComment -

#22Yeah, I know the trade was made to keep Lebron, but I really just don't think it will have an impact on his decision. Personally I feel like he's definitely going to stay in Cleveland, and was going to anyways. This might sweeten the deal a little bit, but I really don't think he would have left anyways.
That being said, please come to NY!Comment -

#23this is an extrmely bad move by the cavs. All the premiere eastern conference teams have good big men, shaq can only defend the post and amare couldnt defend an 83 year old women. Cleveland is going to be weak inside, not worth trading scoring for defense in this situation, they should have tried to get butlerComment -

Have you seen Hickson play defense? He's horrible.
Lebron has said that getting Amare will keep him in Cleveland. The Cavs have already discussed a contract extension with Amare. The Amare/Shaq issue is WAY overblown. They were fighting on Phoenix because both wanted to be the go-to guy, but neither will be in Cleveland and they know that.Comment -

You realize Shaq has been playing great ball for the last months right? So much so that a few analysts and announcers even uttered "all-star" in reference to him.Comment -

#30Amare is playing some great ball this season. He's been finishing and drawing the contact very well, especially late in the game. However, having Steve Nash feed him has had a lot to do with his success. My question is how his game will have to change in Cleveland to fit into the Cavs team dynamic?
On it's own, I feel like picking him up is a good move by the Cavs, however giving up Hickson/Ilgauskas for him is questionable. I feel like it's a fairly lateral move rather than a big additionComment -

#33Lebron's passing and presence in drawing help defenders on the offensive end will certainly make up for it. The bigger question is how much his numbers will drop going from a stat-inflating Suns offense to the Cavs. If Amare is focused on winning rather than personal accolades this could make the Cavs one damn scary team.Comment -

#34Sounds solid. Sorry I edited above. We'll see how it plays out. It honestly could go either way as to how much it benefits the Cavs, but that's what I thought about Shaq as well initially.Comment -

#35Agreed. However, if the trade would guarantee that Lebron stays I think Cleveland would have to be crazy not to do it.Comment
