Hi guys, long time reader, 1st time poster. Just wanted to commend Sando and the other guys for the wealth of information and quality plays this thread has been producing. Now that Ive finally got my SBR account activated Im looking forward to more quality plays and being able to contribute some thoughts in NBA and AFL.

Any thoughts on tomorrows NBA Finals Game 3? I was keen on Miami at first but the +2.5 line (now down to +2), seems to be a bit generous from the books which makes me hesitant.

(Just getting buried in AFL at the moment - ice cold. It has been consistently my best sport over 5 years and I have never had a losing season in AFL (since I started tracking my plays - approx 5 years). I am extremely disappointed but remain calm and confident that I will turn things around and will consider anything less than +20 units by the "last Saturday in September" as a failure on the season.


Total +81.78 units

*Posting plays for approx 7 months on SBR, ranging from 0.25 - 4.5 units, with an average play being aprox. 1.5 units. My unit range is basically 1-5 units, however I have yet to post a 5* play on SBR, and the 0.25 & 0.5 units are usually only on big dogs and prop bets. My pound em plays (3.5+ units) are 4-1 (from memory).

*** I used to post plays in Tennis and in the beginning was hot but then got carried away with way too many plays and got buried during the AUS open, so no I'm not hiding anything but I lost track of my tennis record a long time ago and can't be stuffed working it out, but can estimate it ended up at worst -10 units and at best +2 or 3 units from about 150 plays.

NBA Finals game III

The zig-zag theory ran rampant through the only hard fought series the Spurs and Heat have played this post season, Miami/Indiana in the Eastern conference finals and SA/GS in the Western conference semis hitting at an extraordinary rate of 10 out of 11 applicable games (obviously discarding the 1st game of each series). Basically all the other series played by both teams were 4-0 sweeps (other than the Bulls pinching game 1 from Miami in the East semis). Heading into game 3 the zig-zag theory already appears to be in effect in the finals as well.

Spurs were 6-1 ATS on their 7 game winning streak heading into game 2 of the finals, before getting blown out by Miami.

Spurs will not be fazed by their game 2 performance as their mission was completed anyway (go into Miami and take 1 game). Spurs a veteran team & coach Pop's teams never panic.

Duncan and Parker to lift significantly in this game and Chalmers and Miller to digress from their game 2 heroics.

Contrary to popular expectations the Heat have actually looked more vulnerable as the playoffs have worn on and have lost their last 2 road games by significant margins of 7 & 14 points.

Yea, I get it...A championship level team dominated the second half last night at home in a must win game. But, this line almost suggests that SAS is down 2-0 in the series. Instead we know that SAS got the coveted road split and now is going home where they are deadleee! They are feeling just fine on the ride back home.

Pops is a full light year ahead of Spoelstra in almost every imaginable coaching category. Pops is clearly the best tournament coach in the league now that Jackson is gone.

You saw what Pops did in the opening game with a little bit of time. Those who thought SAS was going to come out flat after the long layoff was sorely disappointed. Pops is 20-3 all-time in best-of-seven playoff series when his team wins Game 1 whether that game was at home or the road.

I can't guarantee any final result but I can tell you that +160 is an incredible value considering that SAS has a chance to sweep at home or even have the player talent and coaching experience to win a Game 7 in MIA.

I got it before the Finals started at +190 and to even have +160 despite the fact that the Spurs stole home court advantage and have 3 straight games at home is a bit out there. Unless people are hammering Miami after Game 2 thinking they showed their supremacy I don't get it...

I'm slightly biased as I don't particularly like the Heat but outside of Indiana I think this is their toughest test yet and Indiana took them to the brink. Spoelstra is a little league coach. He was out coached by Vogel last series and will be embarrassed this series by Pop. He gets saved by the team / superstars he has.

Despite everyone riding the Heat's coattails, I like the balance and cohesiveness the Spurs have. Add to the fact that you're getting a huge discrepancy in coaching ability and I'll take Spurs in a Best of 7 or a Best of 5 as this has become.

For those of you that are just casual NBA fans, let me explain something.

This game was not about the players, it was not about Lebron James or Danny Green or any other player. This game was an example of what happens (over time) when you have the most brilliant and disciplined mind in the NBA (Popovich) vs. a high school level coach (Spoelstra) whose flaws are constantly hidden by the wealth of talent at his disposal. The adjustments made both pre-game & in-game by coach Pop were just outstanding and Spoelstra was like a Salmon swimming upstream from the get-go.

On a side note, Im stoked to be back to +50 units on the season after going 2-0 today.
Not bad after my mid-season collapse.

Awesome work Sando. I personally didnt touch this because i had a few big bets on the baseball and it was a great day. I almost put on SA -11.5 at 1.82 early in the 3rd quarter but while i was on the phone to sportsbet it jumped up to 18!

Im going to have a look at the weekends aussie action and ill post my write up on the league and afl. hope i can continue the run of form from last weekend (5 from 5).
