I really feel going into the Derby UPSTART had as impressive a running line as not only any horse in the field but most horses coming into it in any year.Of course Derby was a bomb but feel Haskell was a decent effort off the 3 month layoff.. If he can return to his pre-Derby self think he could give the big guy a tussle.

deep talented field which is no surprise in this type of race.. love the 9-7f cutback of the 3 along with what he did in his first 4 races however probably little value there.. factoring in the figure earned and the way he won gonna go 4-WATERSHED.. with the big pedigree and McLaughlin throwing him right in against the big boys in his 2nd career start have to believe he's something special

10-SALUTOS AMIGOS... maybe this is a little convoluted theory but thinking the big slop win returning from Dubai happened cause he's such a freak on a wet track which minimized the effect of returning from there. the sub-par effort in the Vanderbilt might be a race he needed to get back to his best dirt form which is elite level when he's right

at minimum a good horse to throw underneath.. went 8.5 to 12 two starts back and lost by a half length at 47-1..doing that exact stretch again today..4 time G1 winner in Brazil at distances from a mile to 12f

sat off a very slow pace (even for 12f) last race but think back in 3 weeks a very good sign.. think she'll get a nice benefit fitness wise from last.. Got 8.5f at Kee this spring and could see her sitting a nice trip in here

basically a value play for me.. with jara aboard and the unknown trainer (although I do remember a Carlos Figueroa from years ago) think he'll go off higher than he should.. he's simply not that far off from this bunch

showed excellent ability in his first 3 starts at FG followed by a couple of extreme posts next two starts.. think last an excellent primer off 2 month layoff.. back in 23 days and feel gelding is a good fit with these

#7 let's wrap it up* (20-1) how I feel about saratoga but in all seriousness don't think this horse that far off in this field.. pilot helps the odds but probably not the trip.. like other better

live oak home bred with big name sire..dam won 253k turf.. gradually improving fair hill works prior to shipping to lrl for her final move 8/19..like the fact they brought him up here rather than wait for bel..with stout breeding think they wouldn't be in such a hurry to run him in a turf sprint

the two favorites (1,10) are much the best here on paper so want to find something that may offer a little value..my choice probably needed last to get some conditioning off the three plus month layoff ..trainer 3/8 at the meet and has hit with some nice prices 2nd off 45-180 day layoff..probably better horse to use underneath the favorites in exotics

summer OK except for my picks.. only had kentucky downs yesterday so didn't look at saratoga.. if I'd just stick to conditioned and maiden claiming races my results would be much better and there are plenty of those nowadays.. they are my strengths and may go that route down the road.. you've had some nice ones including those two harness horses same post a couple of weeks back

Had to deal with the 12 post and being spotted over her head 3 and 4 starts back.. being by elite euro sire galileo this type of course at this distance may be to her liking.. useful prep under her last race at ELP.. my other would be mott's #2 perfect flute
