Good afternoon t4_ever,
Might want to consider getting an account with Greek. I don't play them that often but it's nice to have that option. Last night's total's split (1-1) but were +$275.

I came here to the hockey threads to gain knowledge about the wagering side of the sport.
Analytical wise, TodaysAction, what makes for a good and sound hockey wager? When looking at the lines what should I keep an eye out for? Is there considerable line movement, such as reverse line movements? And also is this sport like any other sport wherein a star player goes down and then the team wins the next game anyway? Are the good defensive teams a good wager to fade the other team's total amount of goals they will score, or are shutouts sporadic and thus skew the overall number, (i.e. a better goalie on a certain team produces more shutouts than the backup or vice versa?). I mean what makes for a good hockey wager?
Good afternoon cocknocker,
Thank you. Lots of questions I see, so no sense wasting any time.
One that gives the opportunity for an acceptable return (if win).
Spikes.
You'll not like this one, but, at times yes and at times no.
Depends on the team and player that's out.
It's something to give thought and effort to.
Look at box scores, record all the information for both teams, every day for every game. At some point you'll find out what the better teams do and don't do. Watch as many games as you can. Learn to follow the play without following the puck. Compare team averages of those facts that keep appearing in winning teams box scores. That's a "crash" course for ya and there's more but that will get you pointed in the right direction. There are no shortcuts, everyone must put in the time needed to become "good".

Do you remember, "It takes two hands to handle a whopper ..."? Thank you, glad the puck bounce for us. All I can tell you, I try.

Good evening lambogb,
Good, hope we both cash from it.
If the game is not still in progress depending on your book, you should be able to roll the winnings over (if there are any). A well placed and timed phone call to the book who took your action might be in order (if needed). Sometimes they do if it goes to overtime and shoot-out. Hopefully it won't for you.

Good evening gambit718,
Don't hate me for this but YOU have to make that choice. I wager how it works for me and don't know anything about your style let alone you. What I can and will tell you is this season I'm using $100 as my unit. Look at what I have in play and you can see how many units are on each game. Then you can make your choice. Best I can tell ya. GL with tonight's action.

hockey games usually take around 3 hours to finish
you might consider making a "IF" bet on the first game.

Thanks, TodaysAction,
So theoretically the way to go is to get all historical with the research with respect to box scores. I think like to find out what a team average is and to match it up against the defensive allowance of the other team is what I am shooting for. What I would like to do is to corner just one segment of the gme, and what i am shooting for is team totals. it looks like that wager is usually -110, which means that I have a 50/50 shot at that one. I am going to find out which teams have the best bruisers and the best defense/goalies and ride them for the team totals to either go under or over. I think that my research will lead me to find what goalies are the best at what they do and also what does the team give up when he is in net (look at me I'm learning the terminology now). Once again thank you for the response. In the words of LT Profits, If you don't like hockey you don't like money!

Good evening cocknocker,
You're welcome. It's one way - if nothing else it gives each player a very good base. Each `capper needs to find a way that works for them. Something to consider about goalies, a part of their success comes from the two on the blue line ("D"). Also, some netminders fare better against certain teams. Don't forget to consider the goalies home/road afternoon/evening record. I could go on and on but know you get the point (find what works and pound it). You're welcome. If you need anything else while on "vacation" holla.

Good morning kman1420,
Glad you were able to cash big on the DAL game. Thanks, those games are over, done with and there's nothing we can do about them so we move forward.

Good morning nonsense48,
You're welcome but I did nothing that I wouldn't do for anyone else if able. Hockey is a great sport to watch, play and/or wager. The more one knows about them, the better they can become (practice). Unfortunately, there are no short-cuts to learn what and how I do this thing. Everyone has to put in their time. BOL with your wagers today.

kman1420,
Oh geez, I hope you're joking! If I'd have known you were on them I'd have taken EDM. JUST KIDDING. This is one of those actions that's on one team and against the other. As Sir McCartney sang "With A Little Luck" we should a couple bounces in our favor and be able to secure victory.
Win or lose, there's more action for tonight.
