Thank you. One sport I do well in is the N.H.L.. My record will not be "pretty" at season's end but will be cash positive and to me that's always been more important. Others get more public "recognition" (good for them) but I've never been about that.Comment -

#183Understanding your numbers/picks
Hey Action,
Good work. I hope to figure this betting and handicapping out one day on your level. As for now, I don't understand those roto numbers and your picks. Trust me. I am a pretty smart dude, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. For a whole week I have been reading your thread trying to figure it out. No luck.
Can you please explain it again. I know you have done it several times. I even went to betting sites and those numbers don/t seem to match.
Thanks!Comment -

Thank you. How things are done for the NHL isn't for everyone but it works for myself. You have to find a method of selection process that works for you being aware that it will take time to adjust along the way so one can make a profit to sustain your life style for the year.
Not a problem in going at it another way. Here's the information (lines) for tonight's Monday Night Football game - seeing I rarely have anything on these games, I figure it's "safe" to list.
# Team Name Spread Total MoneyLn T1 Total T2 Total
8:35 pm (ESPN)
163 Tampa Bay Buccaneers -105 +150 17 -105 -115
164 Carolina Panthers -3 -115 38½ -170 -125 21 -115
First off, for all listings (unless otherwise stated) action is based from the money line. In this case that would be either +150 or -170 depending upon what team the action was. Tampa is +150 whilst Carolina is -170.
Secondly, look at the utmost far left number to the left of each team. The numbers are 163 and 164. The 163 is for Tampa whilst the 164 is for Carolina.
That's "it". However, listed below are specifics for the game.
If I were on Tampa, I'd list the action here like either
TB/Tampa/TAM ... 100/150 or 163 ... 100/150.
In terms of action there would be $100 risked to win $150.
If I were on Carolina, I'd list the action here like either
CAR/Carolina ... 170/100 or 164 ... 170/100.
In terms of action there would be $170 risked to win $100.
Hope this will make it easier for you to understand.Comment -

Thank you for taking the time out to explain to a rookie. Usually a rookie would have to carry your newspapers and receipts, etc. LOL. I understand. I think.
And you are an excellent capper. The real cappers are like you. Forget your win percentage. U turn a profit.Comment -

Your welcome but "rookie" or not, everyone levels up at their own pace. Glad you understand. Again thank you but only in terms of turning a profit. There are some who do better than myself (congrats to them no issues) and some who do worse (sorry people, hope you'll cash your next ticket). To me, I'd rather be cash positive with a in the red record than the other way around. I use to have a siggy that said something along the lines of, "A winning record does not always guarantee being cash positive" or something real close to that and it's true.Comment -

Thank you. Glad you see what the daily action is. One thing I caution people on is to NOT change what they have for their own play based upon what I have (or anyone else's for that matter) for the day. There are reasons why people like what they have in play. Stick to your convictions and see how it plays out and if need be, adjust as you go.Comment -
